Tom Hardy’s fate revealed for ‘MobLand’ Season 3 after on-set drama

He’s back in the crime family. 

Tom Hardy is officially returning for Season 3 of “MobLand.”

Paramount+ confirmed the news on Thursday, following months of conflicting reports about the actor’s fate on the crime drama amid alleged tension behind the scenes.

Per the network, the third installment will feature Hardy reprising his role as Harry da Souza, with his A-list co-stars Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren also returning “for more bloody chaos.”

Reports of Hardy getting “booted off” the set of “MobLand” first surfaced in May.

Per a report from Puck News at the time, the Oscar-nominated actor and rapper allegedly clashed with producers and “expressed his displeasure” that a series “initially built around him was increasingly becoming an ensemble showcase for Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan and other co-stars.” 

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Hardy allegedly “refused to leave his trailer” at times, and “gave script notes” to showrunner Jez Butterworth and “MobLand” creator Ronan Barrett for Season 2.

“He kept the cast waiting, [which is] a power play,” a source told the outlet.

The insider added, “Keeping [co-stars] Pierce Brosnan, Helen Mirren and others waiting is career suicide, I would wager.”

Amid rumors of behind-the-scenes friction, Mirren took to Instagram on May 28 to post a photo in support of Hardy.

“Love you now and always,” she gushed at the time.

In June, the Oscar-winning actress also defended Hardy in an interview with Variety, telling the outlet she’d “absolutely” work with him again “in a f–king heartbeat.”

She noted that although Hardy has a “different process” around acting than she does, he’s a “very special person,” adding, “We will go forward, absolutely.”

Hardy has portrayed the role of Harry da Souza, a fixer for the London-based Harrigan crime family, led by patriarch Conrad (Brosnan) and his scheming wife, Maeve (Mirren), since Season 1 of the series.

“We love Tom,” Butterworth said in a June 2025 interview with The Post, before the reported drama surfaced, noting that Harry’s relationship with the Harrigan family was the “beating heart” of the story.

In June, insiders also told Page Six Hollywood that filming for Season 1 ran smoothly when Barrett was the showrunner.

Tension allegedly started when Butterworth took over Season 2, as the “Ford v Ferrari” writer was stretched thin across numerous projects, including Sam Mendes’ upcoming Beatles films.

“You have an A-plus writer who’s got a lot of power and who has a methodology of, ‘I don’t know where this is going.’ And then an A-plus actor who is used to knowing the entire arc of a character in a story,” the source explained at the time.

“It was all very passive-aggressive and British.”

The Hollywood Reporter then reported in July that Hardy met with producers – including Butterworth, executive producer David Glasser and executive producer and director Guy Ritchie – to mend fences. 

The Season 3 renewal comes ahead of the Season 2 premiere of “MobLand,” airing Sept. 18 on Paramount+. The streamer has yet to announce a premiere date for Season 3. 

In his aforementioned 2025 interview with The Post, Butterworth addressed the show’s future, telling us at the time, “I’d like this to run for as long as it fascinates and delights and stimulates an audience. If it’s doing that, then long may it continue.”
