Ransom Canyon’s Garrett Wareing Speaks Out for 1st Time After Show’s Controversial Cancellation

Garrett Wareing is the latest Ransom Canyon star to speak out after the show’s controversial cancellation.

“Cowboys live forever,” Wareing, 25, wrote via his Instagram Story after news broke on Thursday, September 10, that the Netflix series would not return for a third season. “Onward.”

Wareing’s costar Minka Kelly previously addressed the cancellation news on Friday, September 11.

“Appreciating this little trip down memory lane as we say farewell,” Kelly, 46, captioned an Instagram post. “All good things must come to an end. And so it is.”

She continued: “Thank you all for giving us two beautiful seasons! I love you forever my Ransom Canyon family!!”

Ransom Canyon debuted in April 2025 and was based on Jodi Thomas‘ book series about a town in the Texas Hill Country that is full of drama, romance and hope. Along with Kelly and Wareing, the show starred Josh Duhamel, Eoin Macken, Lizzy Greene, Marianly Tejada, Jack Schumacher, Andrew Liner and James Brolin in season 1.

Following season 1, Kelly revealed she fought to have her paycheck match what Duhamel, 53, was earning. According to Deadline, Netflix did not end up matching their salaries exactly, but Kelly’s pay was increased significantly to lessen the gap.

“I think that’s probably one of the best things about working with Netflix, is that they’re very pro [equal pay]. So I didn’t have to fight very hard. They sort of made that easy,” Kelly told Deadline in April 2025. “I feel really lucky to get to work with the company that does care about that.”

One month later, Duhamel weighed in on Kelly’s revelation.

“I didn’t know about that until I read it afterwards,” he shared on a May 2025 episode of the “Not Skinny But Not Fat” podcast. “But hey, get it girl!”

Ransom Canyon’s second season aired earlier this year. Ahead of the show’s cancellation, showrunner April Blair exclusively gave Us insight into what would have happened in season 3 after Staten (Duhamel) and Quinn (Kelly) got together.

“For me, Staten and Quinn are meant to be together and that is the true north of our series. I don’t foresee continuing to split them up and put them together and split them up and put them together,” she revealed in July. “I think moving forward from season 2, Yancy’s whole drive is to win back his family and the lengths he goes to do that aren’t always the smartest or the wisest.”

Blair teased some of the challenges that were headed the couple’s way.

“Being halfway through the season 3 writers’ room, I can tell you there are many, many more obstacles to come because I think we pitched it to Netflix as season 1 and season 2 are about their journey to choose each other. But once you choose someone and you really begin a relationship, that’s where the real work begins,” she added. “That’s where you uncover people’s dirty little secrets and people’s things they don’t tell. All of the challenges, even the silly stuff.”
