Anne Hathaway is People’s World’s Most Beautiful cover star in feathered couture
Andy Sachs has come a long way in the last 20 years.
“The Devil Wears Prada 2” star Anne Hathaway was unveiled as People’s World’s Most Beautiful cover star, looking radiant in a Tamara Ralph couture gown with 3D feathers.
In the accompanying article, Hathaway, 43, shared her tips to becoming so gorgeous. She credits facial sculpting massages from Georgia Louise, good lighting and being more “still” on red carpets for her radiant good looks.
“Somebody told me that, at a certain point, especially if you’re a naturally expressive person, which I am, you have to be aware that what feels normal to you is going to look exaggerated on a red carpet,” she said.
She added, “And if people are taking photos, you might not be happy with the photos. So just be aware of your calm. Be aware of your stillness.”
Also, the actress shouts out a few products: Shiseido’s Vital Perfect anti-aging cream, C & The Moon body scrub and Baume de Rose Lip Balm.
In one pic, she leans against the wall, hair blowing behind her, in a head-turning black-and-white Dolce & Gabbana bustier dress covered in oversized polka dots.
Also featured is a peplum Stella McCartney blazer ($2,400) and pants ($1,290), vegan leather and denim vest and pants ($2,700) by the same designer as well as a chainmail Rabanne top paired with Khaite pants ($7,800).
Joking about how “The Devil Wears Prada” audience in 2006 just blindly accepted that assistant Sachs might very well pop into the Runway closet and “take so much Chanel,” she acknowledges that the viewers are now “a little bit more savvy.”
So, as Hathaway herself has found confidence in her own personal style over the years, so has Sachs.
“Andy learned a thing or two while she was at Runway. And as she has been out in the world exploring her career as a journalist, she visited a lot of really fun out-of-the-way consignment shops. So she’s been shopping consignment luxury for 20 years and actually has a very cool wardrobe.”
When asked about her self-proclaimed “awkward phase,” the actress jokes that it lasted “decades — decades.”
“I think I had the longest unbroken awkward phase in Hollywood,” adding, “Actually, I think mine extended until my late 30s.”
Having found stronger ground, Hathaway now “value[s] the chill.”
“I’ve never been this age. So let’s just like, you know, figure it out. You still never know what’s coming around the corner.”
