Brandi Glanville rushed to urgent care for doing TikTok medical trend
Brandi Glanville got a garlic clove stuck in her ear after taking medical advice from the internet.
During Friday’s episode of her “Brandi Glanville Unfiltered” podcast, the Bravo alum explained that she caught a cold from her son Jake, 18, and after scanning the internet, she used a garlic clove to help with her congestion, which has become a viral trend on TikTok.
“On Easter, I didn’t do anything because of the garlic in my ear,” she said. “I was trying to get it out.”
Glanville continued, “It really went down further and I had to go to urgent care the next day and get it taken out.”
The 53-year-old reality star recalled that she was “just trying to clear up [her] sinuses” when she stuck the garlic clove in her ear.
“It’s online,” she said of the viral trend she tried copying, before warning her fans, “Don’t listen to people online or TikTok or Instagram or Twitter or Facebook.”
Glanville also noted that her other son, Mason 21, told her that when he had a cold, he puts the garlic clove in his nostril and it fixed his congestion.
“I tried my nostril,” Glanville confessed. “It was burning too much so I moved it to my ear.”
She added, “It was like burning my skin because I’d just lasered it.”
Doctors have advised people to not follow the social media trend of using cloves of garlic to treat stuffed noses.
“Please don’t do this,” Dr. Madeleine Herman, physician president at the Sinus Center & ENT Specialists of Houston, told The Post in December.
“Not only is it ineffective, but it can actually make symptoms worse,” she added.
Herman explained that shoving raw garlic up your nose carries real, potentially painful risks.
“The active compounds in garlic can cause chemical burns when applied to the skin or mucous membranes,” she warned, adding that leaving objects in the nose for too long can also cause an “infection.”
Glanville tried the viral trend after she finally solved the years-long mystery behind her face paralysis.
In February, she revealed that her breast implants were to blame for her facial disfiguration, which affected for two years and caused her to lose several teeth.
The “RHOBH” alum said on a podcast that she took a sonogram and doctors saw that the implant in her right breast had ruptured and leaked, causing her to have silicone in both her lymph nodes.
She also revealed that she spent $200,000 to find out the true cause of her ailment.
