Brandon Blackstock looked happy in final photo with pregnant daughter taken weeks before death

Brandon Blackstock looked happy in what is believed to be his final photo with his pregnant daughter, taken a few weeks before his death.
On July 20, Savannah Lee took to Facebook to post a picture with her father, which she captioned, “back home to the mountains & my daddy.” (Based on the backdrop, they appeared to be in Montana, where he lived.)
Both Blackstock and Lee, who is expecting her second child, wore casual black outfits and smiled for the camera.
The talent manager put one arm around his daughter’s shoulders as he hiked the opposite leg up on a picnic bench in front of them.
He completed his look with a baseball cap and Ugg boots.
While the hair on his head was covered by the hat, his entire beard was gray.
Lee, for her part, posed with one hand in her pocket as she leaned in to her dad.
Blackstock shared the 23-year-old and her brother, Seth Blackstock, with his first wife, Melissa Ashworth, to whom he was married from 2001 to 2012.
A few weeks before that photo was taken, Lee — who is already mom to a 3-year-old son — announced on her Instagram page, which she has since made private, that she is pregnant again.
She gushed that her “little girl will be making her arrival at the beginning of January,” adding that the “journey has been so special full of peace, excitement, and so much grace.”
Lee made sure to thank God for being “so faithful,” noting that “His kindness in this season has left [them] in awe.”
Just over a month later, her dad — who was famously married to Kelly Clarkson from 2013 to 2022 — died at the age of 48.
“It is with great sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away,” a family spokesperson told Page Six on Thursday, revealing that he “bravely battled cancer for more than three years.”
Brandon reportedly had melanoma, a serious form of skin cancer.
“He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family,” the statement continued. “We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family’s privacy during this very difficult time.”
We were told he had recently entered hospice.
Despite their contentious split, Clarkson, 43, was still there for Brandon as his health declined.
The day before he died, the singer announced that she had to cancel the remaining August dates of her Las Vegas residency because her ex-husband was “ill” and she needed to be “fully present” for their kids: daughter River, 11, and son Remington, 9.
The former couple’s last red carpet appearance together was in January 2020 for the Critics’ Choice Awards. Clarkson filed for divorce five months later.
