Britney Spears’ 911 DUI calls revealed as drivers beg police to help ‘erratic’ singer
Britney Spears drove “erratically” and and almost “sideswiped” multiple vehicles before she was arrested and charged with driving under the influence in March.
“I’m reporting an erratic driving person,” one caller said in a 911 call exclusively obtained by Page Six. “They are driving a BMW.”
The caller described their location, adding the BMW could be seen swerving “in and out of lanes” and “erratically slamming on the breaks.”
The driver — who asked to remain anonymous — added, “It almost sideswiped a couple of vehicles. It’s driving at high speeds. I’m worried they’re going to crash with somebody.”
A second caller told a dispatcher for California Highway Patrol, “Possible drunk driver. It is a black BMW. They’re randomly breaking in and out of the lanes.
“Almost sideswiped three or four vehicles,” the driver added. “I am loosely trailing them.”
Spears was arrested and charged with driving under the influence on March 4, and the singer checked herself into rehab on April 12 for substance abuse.
“This was her own choice,” a source shared with Page Six at the time. “This isn’t about one substance in particular, it has a dual purpose. … This is about Britney putting her mental health first and taking some time for herself to focus on the things that are important to her.”
The insider added, “She’s dedicated to working on her health. This is something she really wants to do for herself. This was her own decision.”
Spears’ attorney appeared in Ventura County Superior Court on May 4 on behalf of the songstress.
The attorney accepted a “wet reckless” offer, which is a reduced charge involving reckless driving with alcohol or drugs. This is used in cases involving first-time offenders, low blood alcohol levels and no crash or injuries.
Spears received a one-year informal probationary grant and will have to attend and complete a three-month alcohol school totaling 30 hours.
Spears’ attorney Michael Goldstein told Page Six, “Through her plea today, Britney has accepted responsibility for her conduct. She has taken significant steps to implement positive change which is clearly reflected in the Ventura County District Attorney’s decision to reduce the charge in this case and dismiss the DUI.
“Britney appreciates this discretion and is also grateful for the outpouring of support she has received.”
Though a source close to Spears told Page Six that the singer is “doing really well” after her stint in rehab, she was seen allegedly barking, yelling and wielding a knife at a Los Angeles restaurant earlier this month.
Eyewitness Jeff Sneider alleged to Page Six, “The woman sat down and proceeded to make a lot of woofing or barking noises and just throw a lot of outbursts.”
He claimed the “Toxic” singer may have “forgot[ten] to put down her silverware” and was holding a knife.
“I wasn’t threatened or anything like that,” he said. “But when she eventually left, I turned around and was like, ‘Holy s–t, that was crazy!’ to the entire section.”
But Sneider claimed one woman said of Spears, “She had a knife and came toward me. I thought she was going to stab me.”
A rep for Spears told Page Six, “This is completely blown out of proportion. Britney was enjoying a quiet dinner with her assistant and bodyguard. She was simply telling the story about how her dog was barking at the neighbors.
“At no point did she put anyone in danger with a knife. She was cutting her hamburger in half.”
