Britney Spears told police mom Lynne killed a 12-year-old boy in DUI arrest video
Police footage taken during Britney Spears’ March DUI arrest showed the princess of pop claiming to officers that her mother, Lynne Spears, once killed a man without facing consequences.
When one of the cops informed Britney that it is “extremely dangerous to drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs or both,” the “Toxic” hitmaker, 44, responded, “Yes, sir, I know. My mom actually killed a man on a bike, but I never did that before,” per video obtained by TMZ.
“And nothing happened to her! … Why didn’t they arrest her? How come my mom got away with everything?”
Britney went on to allege that her mother also “tried to kill” the pop star before starting a tense back-and-forth with cops after they told her she was being arrested.
The story is a true tale, apparently. In her 2008 memoir, “Through the Storm,” Lynne explained that she killed a 12-year-old boy named Anthony Winters in 1975 while in a hurry to rush her brother to a Kentwood, Louisiana, hospital.
“The roads were slick with rain, and as I was rounding the curve, an oncoming car was coming in the left lane,” she writes.
The book continues: “In a split second I could see two young boys riding their bikes on the road. In that flash of time, I had a sick sensation that I would hit one of them, that it would be impossible not to, as I knew my car would not stop, no matter how hard I slammed on the brakes. One boy managed to get his bike out of the way, but his friend, a 12-year-old boy whose house was right by the scene of the accident, was hit.”
Lynne, now 71, was not charged for the incident.
As Page Six reported on Thursday, additional footage taken at the scene showed Britney failing a field sobriety test and telling officers she had only had one mimosa earlier in the day while boasting of her tolerance.
“I could probably drink four bottles of wine and take care of you. I’m an angel,” she said.
Britney’s arrest report showed Britney also claimed that she had taken several prescription drugs, including the mood stabilizer Lamictal and anticonvulsant, antidepressant Prozac and Adderall.
Police caught up with Britney after several drivers reported the “Toxic” songstress, 44, to police when they saw her allegedly driving “erratically” and almost “sideswip[ing]” several vehicles while in Ventura County, according to 911 audio exclusively obtained by Page Six.
“I’m reporting an erratic driving person,” one person said in a 911 call.
The individual told the dispatch responder the location and told them how a BMW was allegedly moving “in and out of lanes” and “slamming on the brakes.”
After the arrest, Spears checked herself into rehab in April. She was released later that month and was said to be “doing well.”
On May 4, her lawyer Michael Goldstein appeared at a court hearing on the singer’s behalf and accepted a “wet reckless” offer.
Britney was ordered to a one-year informal probationary grant and is required to complete a three-month alcohol school totaling 30 hours.
