Cher goes rock ‘n’ roll in leather jacket and blond wig for ‘Saturday Night live’ performance

Cher is making us believe in the power of “Saturday Night Live” again.

The iconic singer, 79, returned to Studio 8H as the musical guest after a nearly 40-year hiatus, wearing a leather jacket and Chrome Hearts x Deadly Dolls sweat pants ($6400) to perform “DJ Play A Christmas Song” and “Run Rudolph Run” from her 2023 album, “Christmas.”

She supported Ariana Grande, who played host for the evening, and the two shared the stage with Bowen Yang for the hilarious “Delta Lounge” skit.

For the special occasion — and holiday-themed episode — the music legend changed into a sparkling silver corset top, which featured a black shrug, and black pants to sing a snippet of the Eagles’ “Please Come Home for Christmas,” both surprising and delighting fans in the audience and at home.

Aside from a brief cameo on “Weekend Update” in 1992 and at the special 50th anniversary concert last year, Cher last appeared on the sketch comedy show in November 1987.

Despite decades in showbiz, Cher’s unique taste in fashion has remained a key element of her persona since she burst onto the scene in 1965 with the hit single, “I Got You Babe.”

While her penchant for wearing slinky gowns in the ’70s, bedazzled bodysuits in the ’80s and over-the-top showgirl-inspired headdresses in the ’90s is well-documented, contemporary pop stars are proving Cher’s collection of diva-worthy, Bob Mackie-designed pieces still hits.

Just this fall, singer Sabrina Carpenter busted out not one, but two vintage Bob Mackie dresses from the archives for two major music events: the 2025 VMAs and her debut at Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry. Cher originally wore the pink, black, and blue fringed gown for a performance with Tina Turner on the “Cher” TV show in 1975.

Which is all to say, Cher’s still got it, babe.
