Dakota Johnson ditches engagement ring during NYC outing after Chris Martin split

Dakota Johnson ditched her engagement ring while popping out in New York City after she and Chris Martin called things off for good.

The “Fifty Shades of Grey” actress was spotted with a noticeably naked left ring finger while exiting the Greenwich Hotel in Tribeca Wednesday morning.

Johnson, 35, appeared to be keeping a low profile by wearing a large sunhat and oversized sunglasses concealing her face.

She went with a neutral summer ensemble, pairing a flowy cream blouse with chocolate brown slacks. She also carried a Gucci tote on her shoulder and wore brown ballet flats that completed the look.

While she stepped out sans the massive rock from the rock star, she did wear a pendant necklace.

Two days prior, she was also seen leaving the swanky hotel without her engagement ring.

Hours after she was spotted, news surfaced that Johnson and the Coldplay frontman, 48, broke up after dating on and off for eight years.

“It feels final this time,” a source told People Wednesday.

The former couple was last photographed together in mid-May in Malibu, where they share a home. In January, they were seen holding hands in India.

Johnson hinted at her relationship woes when she questioned societal expectations in an interview with the Los Angeles Times published Wednesday.

“For a long time, we’ve all been so quick to judge relationships or how they should happen, how they should exist in the world, when people should get married, divorce is bad,” she said. “All these things that actually, if you think about it, why is divorce bad? Why do people have to get married or at a certain age or only once? Why? It doesn’t matter.”

The “A Sky Full of Stars” singer and Johnson first sparked dating rumors in October 2017. Two years later, gossip swirled that they had briefly split up, but by 2020, Johnson’s massive ring spurred engagement rumors.

A source told Page Six in March 2024 that the duo had secretly been engaged for six years – despite no wedding date in sight.

From there, they continued on a rocky road, sparking breakup speculation that August before the actress’ rep claimed they were “happily together.”

The “Madame Web” star put the rumors to bed when she stepped out wearing her stunning emerald engagement ring.

Nevertheless, a source told People at the time that Martin and Johnson have “had issues and taken breaks in the past” but that they are “balancing” their busy lives “the best they can.”
