Dolly Parton’s secret trip for experimental cancer treatment revealed

Dolly Parton secretly traveled to Germany for an experimental cancer treatment approximately a year before her death.

The country music legend reportedly flew to Frankfurt on a private jet to undergo the treatment, according to TMZ, though it’s unclear exactly what the procedure entailed.

Insiders told the outlet she remained in Germany for about a week before returning home and she believed the treatment helped restore her strength.

A rep for Parton didn’t immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.

As Page Six previously reported, the legendary singer died on Aug. 25 following a secret cancer battle. She was 80.

Her sister Stella Parton later revealed that several of their family members had no idea Dolly was battling cancer.

“Dolly could not bear negative things and she would not have wanted her fans worried about it,” Stella said on “CBS Mornings.”

“She didn’t want a lot of the family worried about it.”

She clarified, “Some of us knew, the ones that were closer.”

In a Facebook post, Stella also shared that the philanthropist “would still allow her medical team to try experimental drugs in the hope of helping others in the future,” even if there was “no hope” for her.

“My sister was one of the most generous, thoughtful and kind people I’ve ever known,” Stella noted.

Dolly’s family nor her reps have yet to reveal the type of cancer the musician faced.

TMZ reported last month that Dolly was hospitalized at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville with kidney and autoimmune issues, days before her death.

Dolly was laid to rest on Aug. 28, with her cousin telling “Today” show viewers last week that the burial was “very quiet [and] very quickly done.”

He said that while “a few” loved ones were at the burial, “other people [who] would have liked to [have] been there” were “doing other things and stuff.”

Dolly was buried at the Woodlawn Memorial Park and Mausoleum beside her late husband, Carl Dean Thomas.
