Dwyane Wade’s son Zaire arrested on suspicion of felony domestic violence
Dwyane Wade’s son Zaire was arrested on suspicion of felony domestic violence, Page Six can confirm.
Zaire, 24, was taken into custody by the Burbank Police Department in California on Sunday. Hours later, he was released after posting a $50,000 bond.
He is currently facing three charges: felony domestic violence, criminal threats and false imprisonment. An emergency order of protection has also been placed.
Reps for the retired NBA star and the Burbank Police Department did not immediately respond to Page Six’s requests for comment.
According to local outlet NBC4 Los Angeles, the police responded to a 911 call claiming that a woman was screaming around 5:30 a.m. Sunday morning.
Upon their arrival, cops discovered Zaire and a woman who had lacerations on her face and body.
Paramedics were called to check on the woman (whose name has not yet been publicly revealed), but she was not taken to a hospital.
Authorities also removed a handgun from the home after the arrest.
The case has been handed over to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office for potential charges.
Zaire is best known for his famous family, but he’s made a career for himself as a professional basketball player, much like his NBA Hall of Fame father.
He played one season for the Salt Lake City Stars of the G League and went on to play a couple seasons overseas in South Africa and Macau.
In high school, he played at Sierra Canyon School in Chatsworth, California, a prominent school that’s become a hot spot for professional athletes like LeBron James and Scottie Pippen to send their children. He later transferred to Brewster Academy, a boarding school in New Hampshire.
Zaire received several scholarship offers as a high schooler, but he turned them down to go pro.
