Elizabeth Hurley explains why unexpected romance with Billy Ray Cyrus feels ‘normal’
Elizabeth Hurley has more in common with Billy Ray Cyrus than meets the eye.
The actress gushed over their unexpected romance while exclusively chatting with Page Six at the Breast Cancer Research Foundation’s annual Hot Pink Party at the Glasshouse in New York City on Tuesday. When asked if she ever imagined herself in love with a country singer — and on a farm in Tennessee — she noted that it wasn’t that far off from the ranch she owns in her native UK.
“I hadn’t really had that foresight to have that, but funnily enough, the farm in Tennessee is very similar to my farm in Gloucestershire, so in a way it kind of feels normal,” Hurley, 60, said of 64-year-old Cyrus, whom she’s been dating since last April.
Hurley attended Tuesday’s BCRF event with her son, 24-year-old Damian Hurley, by her side. As seen in photos from the evening, their strikingly similar looks were undeniable.
“Well, he does look a lot like me, but he grew into that. Funnily enough, around puberty, he started to look like me — the Irish side of our family,” she told us about her son, whom she shared with late producer Steve Bing. “Before that, he was blond and he didn’t look much like me at all.”
Hurley and Bing dated for over a year in 2000. Her other exes include Hugh Grant (whom she dated from 1987 to 2000), businessman Arun Nayar (whom she married in 2007 and later divorced in 2011) and late Australian cricketer Shane Warne, whom she was engaged to before they split in 2013.
Meanwhile, Cyrus was married to Tish Cyrus for over 28 years before they split in 2022. They have five kids — Brandi, Trace, Miley, Braison and Noah — and he also shares son Christopher with ex Kristin Luckey. The country crooner also had a brief marriage to singer Firerose. They said “I do’ in October 2023, and separated in May 2024.
Tuesday’s event was no doubt meaningful for Hurley, who’s been a global ambassador for the Estée Lauder Companies’ Breast Cancer Campaign since 1996, working closely with the BCRF to raise awareness and funds.
During her interview with Page Six, the “Bedazzled” star also credited her ageless looks to working with the skincare company for over three decades.
“I think working for a beauty company for so long, you really do learn a lot about looking after your skin and of course, applying makeup,” she explained.
“I think also working so closely with people so involved in the healthcare business, in the cancer prevention business, means I’ve also learned a lot about self-care and taking care of myself, listening to them, eating as well as I can and avoiding things they say I should be avoiding. I think it’s been a combination of having a really good influence around me.”
Hurley called working with the BCRF for 31 years a wonderful experience.
“I found that I’ve learned more and more over the years, and I’ve come into contact with people who teach so much and found out so much,” she explained.
“I just know in the coming years, I’m just going to keep learning more and more, and the beauty is that you can then share that information with people through our media partners and events like this. It just means a lot to spread the word on what the scientists are doing with all the money we raise.”
The BCRF’s Pink Pink Party this year raised over $9 million to support breast cancer research.
