Ex-‘Howard Stern Show’ staffer teases new job after layoffs
Former “Howard Stern Show” staffer Jon Blitt trolled fans by giving a glimpse into his new job after being laid off from the SiriusXM program.
“So today is my first day working at Old Navy,” Blitt said in an Instagram clip.
“It’s different than my last job, but it’s a job, and the first thing I learned is ABF, ‘Always Be Folding,’” he added, referencing Alec Baldwin’s “A.B.C. Always be closing” line from the film “Glengarry Glen Ross.”
Blitt continued the bit by folding a pair of jeans in the Old Navy store.
“I’m not sure if I’m allowed to be doing this,” he said, “but I’ll keep you guys posted on how things go over here at the Old Navy.”
At the end of the clip, Blitt jokingly asked a customer, “Hi, can I help you?”
He captioned his video, “#newbeginning.”
In the comments, fans pointed out Blitt was joking about working at Old Navy.
“Coincidentally Blitt rhymes with bit,” one fan wrote.
“This is typical Blitt that cracks me up,” another fan said.
Someone else commented, “You are going to kill it at Old Navy bud. Congrats on the rebound. Only kidding. Miss you already Blitt!”
Page Six exclusively confirmed earlier this month that Stern, 72, laid off around a dozen staffers from his beloved radio show. According to our sources, staffers received the news over Zoom.
They were also told Stern plans to cut back to a single show per week after he returns from his summer break.
The staffers were sent home immediately after the call and will receive severance packages according to how long they’ve been with the network, Page Six heard.
Blitt, who worked on the show for nearly a decade, was laid off alongside Benjy Bronk, Memet Walker and Mike Trainor, according to The Sun.
Trainor was the first ex-staffer to confirm the news himself.
“Hey now. My run on The Howard Stern Show ended this week after 12 amazing years (an eternity!),” he wrote on X on July 16. “Incredibly grateful to Howard and the whole gang for the ride and excited for what’s next.”
Last year, Stern caused a panic when he announced to his staff Labor Day evening that he wouldn’t be back on the air as expected.
He reportedly skipped episodes due to “frustration” over contract negotiations.
When he did re-up for another three years in December, he said on his show, “I am happy to announce that I have figured out a way to have it all.”
“More free time and continuing to be on the radio,” he added, explaining that the new contract will give him more “flexibility.”
Stern inked his first deal with Sirius Satellite Radio in 2004, netting him $500 million over five years.
