Fate of Josh Duhamel’s ‘Ransom Canyon’ revealed after two seasons

Josh Duhamel and Minka Kelly’s Netflix series, “Ransom Canyon,” has reportedly been canceled after two seasons

Deadline, who broke the news, cited low ratings as the reason for the cancellation.

Season 2 had 4.1 million viewers in its first week, down 43% from the 7.2 million viewers from Season 1’s debut week, per Deadline.

The outlet also noted that Season 2 had eight episodes, two less than Season 1.

Page Six has reached out to reps for Netflix, Duhamel and Kelly for comment.

Netflix’s decision comes less than two months after Season 2 of the Western romantic drama series premiered on July 23. The first season came out in April 2025.

Created by April Blair, “Ransom Canyon” was based on a series of romance novels written by Jodi Thomas.

The show, set in Texas, followed three ranching family dynasties fighting for control of their land, their legacies and their loved ones.

Duhamel, 53, played ranch owner Staten Kirkland, while Kelly, 46, played Staten’s love interest, Quinn O’Grady, a concert pianist and lavender farmer.

The cast also included Lizzy Greene, Garrett Wareing, Marianly Tejada, Jack Schumacher, Andrew Liner, Philip Winchester, Brett Cullen, Kate Burton and Heidi Grace Engerman.

James Brolin starred in Season 1 as Cap Fuller, who died from a heart attack in the finale.

After Season 2 came out, Blair told Entertainment Weekly that the finale — which saw Quinn reject her British boyfriend’s marriage proposal to be with Staten — was “just the beginning.”

“I always say the end of season 2 isn’t the end of their story. It’s actually just the beginning,” she said. “Falling in love and deciding to be together is the easy part. What happens after that? How do you keep that love alive?”

Blair continued, “So it took two seasons for them to end up together, but they still have a lot of hurdles and fun to come, but they’ll be facing them together instead of separate.”

In addition, Blair told EW that Engerman’s character, the mysterious Sidney, “definitely has a presence in season three.”

Duhamel and Kelly, for their part, shared their hopes for Staten and Quinn’s storyline in Season 3 before the show was axed.

“I’m excited at the potential of getting to explore what it really is like to start a life with someone,” Kelly told Decider in July. “I mean, our whole lives it’s been start, stop, will-they-won’t-they, yes, no, can’t.”

“So what’s it like when you’re building a home together, when you’re building a life together?” Kelly continued. “When you’re finally cohabitating, what does that really look like? 

Duhamel agreed with his co-star, adding, “I’d love to be able to see how these two handle domestic day-to-day. And I think that we should have a baby!”
