Freddie Mercury’s alleged secret daughter dead at 48 after cancer battle
The alleged long-time secret child of legendary Queen frontman Freddie Mercury has died. She was 48.
The family of the woman, identified only as Bibi, revealed Thursday that she died after a long battle with cancer, the Daily Mail reported.
“(She died) peacefully after a long battle with chordoma, a rare spinal cancer, leaving two sons aged nine and seven,” her husband Thomas told the outlet.
Bibi, who was anonymously identified as “B,” was conceived between Mercury and the wife of the rocker’s friend in 1976 — during the height of his career, according to author Lesley-Ann Jones’ bombshell biography on the Queen rocker, “Love, Freddie.”
“B is now with her beloved and loving father in the world of thoughts. Her ashes were scattered to the wind over the Alps,” Thomas said.
Bibi, who worked as a doctor and lived in France, had battled the rare cancer most of her life. She was first diagnosed with the disease at a very young age before going into remission.
The cancer returned and it was a “race against time” to publish the book and the news with Jones before her death.
The retrospective of her father was released in September 2025 and offered a glimpse into “Freddie Mercury’s secret life and love.”
The guarded secret was known only to the late “Bohemian Rhapsody” star’s nearest and dearest –including his longtime love, Mary Austin, his parents, and his sister — for nearly half a century, the Daily Mail previously reported.
She reached out to Jones after the author’s first book in 2021 and the pair collaborated on the second novel because there were “still some things I should know” about the singer.
Jones built a relationship with Bibi and paid tribute to her after her death.
“I am devastated by the loss of this woman who became my close friend, who had come to me with a selfless aim: to brush aside all those who have had free rein with Freddie’s story for 32 years, to challenge their lies and their rewriting of his life, and to deliver the truth,” Jones told the outlet.
“This news is shocking and deeply upsetting to me, but not surprising. I had known it was coming all along. It was a race against time. Against the odds, we achieved what at one time seemed impossible, given all that she was up against. It was the honour of my life to have been chosen by her to share Freddie’s true story,” she said.
Bibi only revealed her identity as Mercury’s daughter in the book months before her death, after having took a DNA test to confirm the singer as her father, who died in 1991.
“For 30 years I had to build my life and family without him and accept that he wouldn’t be there to share the happy moments with us,” Mercury’s daughter wrote. “For 30 years, while the rest of the world was reinterpreting Mercury’s life, his music and all that he had been, I needed to have my Dad just for me and my family. How could I have spoken before?”‘
Jones says she trusted the woman’s story because she was not seeking recognition or fame and hid the news out of fear it would cost her her job.
“She has never asked for money. She does not want recognition. Both Freddie and her stepfather left her extremely wealthy. She was not provided for through Freddie’s will, but by a private, legal arrangement, so no one will find her mentioned there,” Jones said about Bibi’s revelation.
