Gigi Hadid breaks silence on being named in Epstein files
Gigi Hadid is disgusted that her name was mentioned in the notorious files of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
“Made me sick to my stomach,” she replied in a now-deleted comment to a fan who threatened to unfollow the supermodel on Instagram.
“Horrible to read someone you’ve never met speak about you that way. Especially in this context,” she added.
Hadid, 30, said that “never in my [her] met the monster” but believes her name being mentioned in the files was because Epstein “tried to take responsibility of peoples careers in order to manipulate his victims.”
“I didn’t comment bc I don’t want to take away from the stories of real victims of his; but your comment made me realize maybe its not clear-and it’s important to let you know,” the runway model penned.
“I grew up privileged, yes. But my parents protected me and taught me the value of hard work, the same hard work that got them to this country and gave them careers,” Hadid added.
The mom of one then shared details about how her modeling career launched, including meeting with agencies before she turned 18 and signing with IMG in 2012.
“And I’ve worked hard every moment since. To be named in those files, I think I was 20-21 at the time he would have written that email- is disturbing, and I want to state unequivocally that I have never had any affiliation with that disgusting human being,” she wrote.
“May he rest in [fire emojis],” Hadid concluded.
The fan then told the Maybelline spokesmodel “that it was a “COMPLETE HONOR” to have her reply, to which Hadid responded: “💖💖 sending love thanks for your support x.”
After the Department of Justice (DOJ) released millions of Epstein files, Gigi and her sister Bella Hadid’s names were mentioned in a December 2015 email exchange between the late financier and an individual whose name was redacted.
“How did the Hadid sisters became [sic] models and make so much money?! I don’t understand,” the unknown person wrote to Epstein.
“You know,” the late pedophile replied before the unnamed individual claimed the models’ father, Mohamed Hadid, “paid the agency.”
Epstein replied, “No.”
The person whose name was redacted then claimed “there are too many girls giving blowjobs,” to which Epstein responded: “agreed.”
Following a 2005 investigation, Epstein pleaded guilty to procuring a child for prostitution and soliciting a prostitute, serving 13 months with work release.
He was charged in 2019 with sex trafficking of minors and accused of abusing dozens of underage girls. Epstein died by suicide in jail that year while awaiting trial.
His right-hand woman, Ghislaine Maxwell, is currently serving 20 years for sex trafficking.
