Hugh Jackman’s new girlfriend Sutton Foster opens up about being a woman with power
Hugh Jackman’s new girlfriend has appeared to make a reference to the media attention surrounding her romance with the Wolverine star in a new interview.
The 51-year-old actress was recently part of a Women’s Health Lab panel called “The Science of Staying Strong: Longevity, Movement & Resilience” to discuss how she copes with intense stress with life in the public eye.
The Broadway star claimed that she often feels “really alone,” and insisted that it’s time more women began “supporting” each other instead of competing.
“I’ve been a leading lady for a long time … but often I feel really alone,” she confessed.
“I reached out to a lot of my contemporaries last year, and a lot of the women on Broadway, and we all are usually on our own. Everyone shared the commonality of loneliness,” she added, according to Women’s Health.
She then seemingly referenced fans pitting her against Deborra-Lee Furness, adding, “Women of power can actually support each other, and we don’t have to be pitted against each other.”
Jackman and Foster – who co-starred in the Broadway production “The Music Man” from 2021 to 2023 – were first romantically linked in late 2024 before confirming their relationship in January 2025 when they were photographed holding hands on a dinner date in Santa Monica.
Reports then emerged the following January claiming that Jackman had proposed and the pair were well underway planning their wedding.
Details of their nuptials first emerged in January when an insider told New Idea that the couple were dead set on walking down the aisle.
“[Hugh’s] told his team to keep a big window open for him and Sutton to tie the knot and have a honeymoon tour of Europe, where they can see his mom,” an insider claimed at the time.
The source added that the couple were planning a small, “intimate” ceremony in New York during spring or summer for their “theatre pals.”
There was no indication as to whether any of Jackman’s close family would be in attendance.
“Hugh and Sutton are full of excitement about all the next steps that they can finally take,” another source said.
“They spent so long feeling like they couldn’t live out loud, but now that they are finally a public couple, things are moving very quickly,” they added.
When they first separated in September 2023 after 27 years of marriage, Jackman and Furness released a joint statement calling the split an amicable shift to “pursue individual growth.”
When their divorce was officially finalized, Furness released a scorching public statement addressing the “traumatic journey of betrayal,” which sparked rumors that there had been a period of overlap between Jackman and Foster.
