Jennifer Lopez details ‘really tough’ Marc Anthony divorce

Jennifer Lopez is getting loud about her and Marc Anthony’s split.

The singer, who shares 18-year-old twins, Max and Emme, with the “Vivir Mi Vida” singer, opened up about how difficult it was to overcome their divorce in 2014 following 10 years of marriage.

“After my third divorce, that’s when I really started getting good at it,” Lopez initially joked during her Las Vegas residency show on Friday, as seen in footage from @jpasc24’s Instagram.

“Seriously, that’s not funny,” the Grammy nominee continued, before explaining that “it was actually a really tough time.”

“I was really about to give up on it all. I mean, I was a single mom with two 3-year-old twins and I called up one of my mentors,” continued JLo.

“Her name was Louise Hay. Some of you might know who she was. She passed away.”

The self-help author was instrumental in guiding Lopez through the rough moments.

“She said to me, ‘Jennifer, you’re a dancer, right?’” the artist recounted. “I said, ‘Yes, I am.’ And she said, ‘When you’re learning a dance, and you get the steps wrong, what do you do?’ I said, ‘I just keep going until I get the steps right.’ And she said, ‘That’s right, Jennifer. Always keep dancing.’”

“And I wish the same for every last one of you,” mused Lopez, “that no matter what life throws at you, that you dance, and you dance, and you dance—again, and again, and again. I love you so much!”

During her live performance, the “Let’s Get Loud” crooner, who’s had four failed marriages, also gave a poignant piece of advice to all the men out there.

“You know what fellas,” she stated. “I’m going to let you in on a little something since we’re here and I love the fellas so much, I’m going to tell you a little secret.”

“Women don’t need much!” Lopez divulged. “It is true. We need very little. All we need from you is a little bit of sugar. That’s it. You give us a little bit of sugar, sweetness, kindness, and we will give you so much in return.”

“Men do a lot,” she concurred. “We just do so much more! Do I really need to spell it out for you?”

“I’ve been saying it for years,” she continued. “It’s not about the money. I don’t want your stuff. Get out of there please. It really is simple. People look at me and they see me with my sparkly mic and they think that I am expensive.”

And they wouldn’t be wrong, according to the hitmaker.

“I am,” she exclaimed. “I am expensive. But I brought my own mic, okay? I don’t need you to buy me nothing. Ladies, do we them to buy us anything? No!”

Lopez has kept up a positive outlook on dating and marriage despite a tumultuous love life dating back to the ’90s.

She first tied the knot with Ojani Noa in 1997, but they split in 1998. She then went on to marry Cris Judd in 2001.

However, Lopez filed for divorce from the dancer in July 2002, after just nine months of marriage.

She then met Ben Affleck that same year, with the two getting engaged in November 2002. Though, the former flames broke off their engagement in 2004.

But years later, in April 2021, the pair rekindled their romance before walking down the isle in 2022. By August 2024, however, Lopez had filed for divorce.

“She tried really hard to make things work, and is heartbroken,” a source told People at the time.

In an October 2024 conversation with Nikki Glaser for Interview Magazine, Lopez told the comedian that she doesn’t regret the pain that came along with splitting from the actor.

“Not one second,” she confessed. “That doesn’t mean it didn’t almost take me out for good. It almost did. But now, on the other side of it, I think to myself, ‘F—, that is exactly what I needed. Thank you, God. I’m sorry it took me so long. I’m sorry that you had to do this to me so many times.’ “
