Joey Fatone reveals status of *NSYNC reunion
They’re saying bye bye bye.
Former *NSYNC member Joey Fatone reveals the boy band — which includes Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez, Lance Bass, and Chris Kirkpatrick — had a conversation about reuniting, but ultimately decided against it.
“Probably not, flat out,” he exclusively told Page Six of the group getting back together. “Literally we just said, ‘Hey, do we see anything happening in a couple of years of *NSYNC?’ And that was a no.”
He said that when the members of *NSYNC talked as a group, they discussed a reunion but the conversation didn’t progress to discussing logistics, or “actually having a performance of any kind.”
Their conversation was more general, he told Page Six. “It was literally the five of us going, ‘how’s everybody doing?’”
The singer, who is promoting his new ID series, “Boy Band Confidential,” said he doesn’t believe all of the band members want to reunite for a performance.
He added, “So do I see anything happen in the next two to four years? Probably not. Flat out. Finally got an answer.”
First forming in 1995, the band went on indefinite hiatus in 2002. They’ve reunited several times over the years, including at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards, on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” in 2018, at Coachella with Ariana Grande (sans Timberlake) in 2019, and at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards.
Timberlake, 45, has also taken hits to his reputation in recent years.
In June 2024, the pop star was arrested on DWI-related charges in Sag Harbor, NY. The “Sexy Back” singer was charged with one count of driving while intoxicated and cited for two traffic violations: failure to stop a stop sign and failure to keep right.
His mugshot made the rounds online, and his alleged line to cops – “This is going to ruin the tour” – became a viral meme.
The Grammy winner went on to take a plea deal for the arrest, lowering his DWI charge to a traffic violation, which isn’t a criminal defense.
According to court documents obtained by Page Six on March 2, Timberlake sued the ritzy Hamptons town, in an attempt to stop the public release of bodycam footage from his DWI arrest, but it was released anyways later that month.
In the footage, a female friend pleaded to the cops, “Can you guys please just do me a favor ’cause you loved ‘Bye Bye Bye’ or ‘Sexyback?’ Do me one favor!”
Meanwhile, Fatone executive produces the documentary “Boy Band Confidential,” which interviews former boy band members about their behind-the-scenes experiences.
Fellow *NSYNC member Lance Bass is in the doc, as well as former 98 Degrees member Nick Lachey, former Backstreet Boy AJ McLean, and more.
“Boy Band Confidential” will premiere Monday, April 13 and Tuesday, April 14 at 9 p.m. on ID and HBO Max.
