Kristen Bell skips ‘Today’ show after facing backlash over Dax Shepard anniversary post

Kristen Bell skipped her appearance on the “Today” show after facing backlash over her anniversary post dedicated to husband Dax Shepard.
The “Nobody Wants This” actress was scheduled to appear on the NBC morning show with her co-star Justine Lupe Wednesday morning, according to the program’s schedule.
However, Lupe was interviewed solo — with no mention of Bell’s whereabouts amid the controversy.
The day prior, Bell posted an Instagram Story video of herself flying on an airplane en route to do press for her Netflix show.
In another video, she was seen getting dressed with her glam team, captioning the video, “I cannot wait to tell you about Season 2 of @Nobodywantsthisofficial !!”
It wasn’t immediately clear why Bell was a no-show for the interview. Page Six has reached out to NBC and Bell’s rep for comment.
Earlier this week, the “Frozen” voice actress, 45, was slammed for sharing a “tone-deaf” message intended to honor Shepard on their 12th wedding anniversary.
“Happy 12th wedding anniversary to the man who once said to me: ‘I would never kill you. A lot of men have killed their wives at a certain point. Even though I’m heavily incentivized to kill you, I never would.’ ❤️,” she captioned a post.
The comments section was quickly flooded with critics accusing Bell of being insensitive, considering October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
“just an fyi, posting this caption during domestic violence awareness month is unbelievably tone deaf :/ please reconsider,” one person wrote.
“Thats a wildly sad and insensitive thing to say, considering it’s domestic violence awareness month and thousands of women have died a the hands of the man they trusted…,” a second person agreed.
“Kristen there’s no way you posted this during domestic violence awareness month 😭,” a third said.
Others called Bell’s words “triggering” to domestic violence victims and some even argued that her message was “weird” and “disturbing.”
A domestic violence advocacy group told Page Six in a statement Tuesday, “There’s nothing funny about domestic violence ‘jokes’ that trivialize the very real fear, trauma and pain that millions of victims and survivors face each day.”
Meanwhile, several fans defended Bell, calling her critics “too sensitive.”
Shortly after facing an onslaught of backlash, Bell limited her Instagram comments.
Bell and the “Armchair Expert” podcast host, 50, have been married since October 2013. They share daughters Lincoln, 12, and Delta, 10.
