Lizzo’s amfAR Gala Cannes 2026 gown featured faux piercings

Fake piercings, real diamonds and an extra set of hands — Lizzo’s latest look has it all.

The “About Damn Time” singer brought a stroke of surrealism to the amfAR Gala Cannes 2026, stepping onto the red carpet Thursday in a royal blue gown by Robert Wun with a pair of rings jabbed through the cups of the velvet bodice, a diamond necklace dangling between them.

The trompe l’oeil piercings were complemented by a pair of sculptural gloved cuffs designed to look like a second set of hands posed atop Lizzo’s own.

Between the necklace, earrings, cuffs and the chain strung from the pop star’s chest, the ensemble featured 2,000 laboratory-grown white diamond jewels totaling 3,161 carats. The jaw-dropping jewelry was created in collaboration with London-based designer Anabela Chan, who has also made pieces for Taylor Swift and Mariah Carey.

Nail artist Angel My Linh painted the singer’s stiletto nails matte chrome blue to complete the color story. Stylist Patti Wilson put the whole production together.

Faux body piercings having a moment on the red carpet, with Lizzo’s look coming on the heels of Chappell Roan’s head-turning Grammys 2026 dress, which was attached to her chest with a pair of rings pierced through well-adhered prosthetics.

Her revealing gown was an archival piece from Thierry Mugler’s spring 1998 couture show, though the original model had real piercings — no prosthetics required.

Lizzo also performed at the charity gala, taking the stage — cocktail in hand — to sing “Don’t Make Me Love U” and “About Damn Time.”

The amfAR Gala Cannes, held at the Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Cap d’Antibes, France, raised $20 million for AIDS research this year and was hosted by Geena Davis.

The singer teased her forthcoming album on the red carpet, telling reporters, “I’m just so excited. I’m trying to bring back good, clean fun. Like, I just want to have fun again, people need to dance, people need to laugh.”

The album, titled “B–ch,” drops June 5.
