Mariska Hargitay Smiles with Daughter Amaya, 14, Backstage at Hamilton as Leslie Odom Jr. Returns to the Stage

Mariska Hargitay made sure her daughter was in the room where it happened last night.

On Tuesday, Sept. 9, the Law and Order: SVU star, 61, was photographed backstage at Hamilton on Broadway alongside her 14-year-old daughter, Amaya. The night marked the first time that Leslie Odom Jr. returned to the stage to play Aaron Burr, a role he originated before leaving in July 2016.

Hargitay could be seen smiling with her arm around her teenage daughter, who gave a soft smile and wore a white sweater with a bear in a cowboy hat. Her mom opted for a black jacket and a black shirt, accessorizing with gold necklaces.

Odom will be in the Broadway production of the hit Lin-Manuel Miranda musical for a strictly limited 12-week run at New York City’s Richard Rodgers Theatre from Sept. 9 through Nov. 23.

Alongside Amaya, Hargitay shares sons August, 19, and Andrew, 13, with husband Peter Hermann.

When she was filming season 27 of Law and Order: SVU over the summer, the actress was joined on set by her son August and actor husband Hermann. The father-son duo both towered over Hargitay, adorning casual clothing in snaps taken from their visit.

Hargitay was in full Olivia Benson gear, rocking an all-black outfit and boots.

Earlier this past summer, Hargitay was joined by her three kids at a special film screening of her documentary My Mom, Jayne in Los Angeles.

The mom of three wore a sleek black, long-sleeve dress. Her older son, August, wore jeans and a striped shirt, while her younger son, Andrew, was dressed in an all-black outfit and pink sneakers. Her daughter, Amaya, wore a baby pink floor-length dress with ruffles.

Back in January 2024, Harigtay reflected on her parenting and told PEOPLE that she is “so grateful that I’m an older mom.”

“I don’t know if I could have handled it when I was younger,” she admitted. “When I was younger, I wasn’t as present, but as I’ve gotten older, I’ve started to accept and appreciate.”

She also said that when it comes to motherhood, she leans on her kids and Hermann to help her figure it out along the way.

“The thing that’s made me a better parent is my kids, because they taught me to really listen,” explained Hargitay. “My husband is my North Star, and my kids are my teachers.”
