Marvel villain known for ‘Daredevil’ and ‘Iron Fist’ dead at 82
Wai Ching Ho, the actress who rose to fame as Madame Gao in the Marvel series “Daredevil,” has died at the age of 82.
“Just lost someone very special to me. She was one of the coolest. Thinking aloud. #Gao 🙏😔,” her “Daredevil” costar Peter Shinkoda wrote via Instagram on Saturday, alongside a pensive photo of himself.
In another Instagram post, the actor shared two photos of the actress as Madame Gao, who also appeared in “The Defenders” and “Iron Fist.”
“I won’t ever forget you,” he captioned a solo photo of the actress, along with a still of himself as recurring villain Nobu Yoshioka opposite Ho’s Madame Gao.
“I learned every minute from you when we were together on and off set. I know wisdom – I’d hang on your every word. We will meet again, my friend. You were beautiful.”
On Sunday, actor Perry Yung — who appeared with the actress in 2018’s “High Resolution” — spoke out about Ho’s death, as well.
“It’s a very emotional moment for all of us who knew Wai Ching Ho,” he began, noting that the MCU actress “passed away peacefully after a stroke two days ago.”
“I had seen her perform many times on stage, had many a dim sum and she came to see @slantperformancegroup many times,” he added.
“I even had the enormous good fortune of having played her husband (parents to @justinchon) in the film ‘High Resolution.’”
“Wai Ching was a kind, compassionate human being whose work as an artist lifted every production to a higher standard, and we are better for it,” he concluded the tribute.
“Rest in power dear friend. 🙏🙏🙏”
Fans in the comments thread expressed their condolences, with one person writing, “Her performance was so good and haunting at the same time. Condolences and may she RIP.”
Another remarked, “She was absolutely fantastic. Rest in peace Madame Gao,” while a third noted, “she gave an absolutely legendary performance as Gao.”
A rep for the actress was not immediately available to Page Six for comment.
In addition to her high-profile role in the Marvel series, Ho was also known for voicing Grandma Wu in Pixar’s “Turning Red,” and for appearing in episodes of “Awkwafina is Nora From Queens,” “Only Murders in the Building” and “Law & Order,” among others.
