Music titan Clive Davis spotted with celebs in his last public appearance before death
Music titan Clive Davis was last publicly seen at a star-studded fundraising event weeks before his tragic death.
The Arista Records founder stepped out to the Gordon Parks Foundation Awards Dinner and Auction hosted in New York City on May 19.
He was all smiles while sharing a table with music icons Alicia Keys, Chance the Rapper and Swizz Beatz.
Davis also posed alongside Huma Abedin and Salamishah Tillet at his table.
He looked dapper for the outing, wearing a classic suit and tie.
The talent agent passed away at the age of 94 on Monday, his family confirmed to Page Six.
A cause of death hasn’t been revealed, but the businessman was hospitalized on May 29 — just 10 days after the event.
At the time, he was admitted to the hospital after suffering from “an upper respiratory infection and out of an abundance of caution,” an insider told TMZ.
Davis was expected to be released 24 hours later.
The iconic producer — who worked with Whitney Houston, Sean “Diddy” Combs and Kelly Clarkson — was diagnosed with Bell’s Palsy in 2021.
The National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke defined the condition as “a neurological disorder that causes paralysis or weakness on one side of the face,” leading to partial facial paralysis, “a drooping eyebrow and mouth” and trouble closing one eye.
Following Davis’ diagnosis, his rep shared that he was “expected to recover within six to eight weeks” with the help of “antibiotics and steroids.”
Davis kick-started his career in the music industry in the 1960s and was appointed President of Columbia Records in 1967 when he was 35.
His first major signing was Janis Joplin’s band Big Brother and the Holding Company after discovering the group at the Monterey Pop Festival.
Davis later founded his own company, Arista Records, in 1974, followed by J Records in 2000.
A few of the hits Davis has overseen include Whitney Houston’s “Greatest Love of All,” Kelly Clarkson’s “Since U Been Gone,” Billy Joel’s “Piano Man” and “Smooth” by Santana.
Davis — who came out as bisexual in 2013 — was previously married to Helen Cohen, with whom he shared kids Fred and Lauren, from 1956 to 1965; and to Janet Adelberg, with whom he shared Mitchell and Doug, from 1965 to 1985.
In his memoir, “The Soundtrack of My Life,” Davis admitted that he was in a “strong monogamous relationship” for seven years with an unnamed man.
