President Donald Trump is not happy to see the return of Jimmy Kimmel Live!

Trump, 79, took to his Truth Social account one hour prior to the return of Jimmy Kimmel‘s late night talk show on Tuesday, September 23, to share his thoughts on the end of the show’s suspension.

“I can’t believe ABC Fake News gave Jimmy Kimmel his job back,” Trump began. “The White House was told by ABC that his show was cancelled! Something happened between then and now because his audience is GONE, and his ‘talent’ was never there. Why would they want someone back who does so poorly, who’s not funny, and who puts the Network in jeopardy by playing 99% positive Democrat GARBAGE.”

The post continued, “He is yet another arm of the DNC and, to the best of my knowledge, that would be a major Illegal Campaign Contribution. I think we’re going to test ABC out on this. Let’s see how we do. Last time I went after them, they gave me $16 Million Dollars. This one sounds even more lucrative. A true bunch of losers! Let Jimmy Kimmel rot in his bad Ratings.”

Trump’s post attracted 6,000 “likes” in the hour before Jimmy Kimmel Live! returning to ABC.

Trump has been vocal about the pulling of the late night talk show, which Us Weekly confirmed via an ABC spokesperson’s statement on Wednesday, September 17.

That same day, Trump reflected on the network’s decision, which came as a result of Kimmel, 57, making comments about the death of Charlie Kirk. “Great News for America: The ratings challenged Jimmy Kimmel Show is CANCELLED,” Trump wrote at the time. “Congratulations to ABC for finally having the courage to do what had to be done.”

He continued, turning his attention to Kimmel’s fellow late night talk show hosts. “Kimmel has ZERO talent, and worse ratings than even Colbert, if that’s possible,” Trump wrote. “That leaves Jimmy and Seth, two total losers, on Fake News NBC. Their ratings are also horrible. Do it NBC!!! President DJT.”

ABC announced last Wednesday that Jimmy Kimmel Live! would be “pre-empted indefinitely” in light of Kimmel’s comments. Amid widespread backlash — including calls to boycott Disney+ and Hulu, who are associated with ABC — the network confirmed on Monday, September 22, that Kimmel was set to return.

In the lead-up to his comeback to television, Kimmel took to his Instagram account on Tuesday to share a photo of himself with the late Norman Lear. “Missing this guy today,” Kimmel wrote. (Lear died in December 2023 and was outspoken about his support of the First Amendment.)

Kimmel showed remorse over his controversial comments during his first monologue back on Tuesday night, tearing up as he said, “It was never my intention to make light of the murder of a young man. I don’t think there’s anything funny about it.”
