Presley Gerber was prescribed ketamine: report

Presley Gerber was reportedly being prescribed ketamine by a doctor, despite an ongoing struggle with the drug and addiction issues.

According to sources for TMZ, the model — who died at a Santa Monica, Los Angeles, rehab facility on Sunday — had a “regular problem” with the drug.

The outlet claimed in a report published Tuesday that friends from Gerber’s inner circle are “angry” the doctor continued to prescribe the drug, and “think the doc should be prosecuted.”

The outlet reported that their sources claimed the only son of supermodel Cindy Crawford and Casamigos tequila founder Rande Gerber, had shared his issues with ketamine with “close friends” prior to his death.

A rep for the family did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment on Tuesday.

It remains unclear what may have been in the model’s system at the time of his death.

Ketamine’s FDA-approval is meant to be applied to use as a general anesthetic, though it’s sometimes used to treat drug addiction.

After Presley’s death just a day after checking in to the high-profile Los Angeles rehab facility, his family — including his parents and sister, Kaia Gerber, 24 — issued a brief statement.

“The family is asking for privacy during this very difficult and painful time,” they said following the news, which TMZ was the first to report earlier this week.

Presley was 27 at the time of his death, and had struggled for years with substance use issues.

Page Six reported on Monday that Presley — who began following in his mother’s footsteps with a modeling career beginning at age 15 — had checked himself into rehab “this weekend” because “he knew he needed help.”

The insider added, “He had not been doing well. He’s always suffered from a huge lack of self-esteem and had trouble accepting his real self and feeling fully confident in who he was as a person.”

Page Six confirmed that Presley was under the influence when he checked into the rehab center, with TMZ reporting that he “did not appear sober” upon arrival.

Presley had been open about his struggles with mental health and his substance use issues in the years and months leading up to his death.

Presley isn’t the first celebrity whose death may have been associated with ketamine — “Friends” icon Matthew Perry infamously died of an acute ketamine overdose in October 2023.

Five people — including a doctor — were ultimately charged and pleaded guilty in connection with the actor’s tragic death at the age of 54.
