Princess Diana’s brother awkwardly shuts down questions about Prince Harry

Charles Spencer refused to answer a question about his nephew Prince Harry in a new interview.

Princess Diana’s brother was asked in his People cover story, published Monday, about the Duke of Sussex’s 2023 memoir, “Spare.”

In the bombshell tell-all, notably, Harry detailed his strained relationships with his royal family members.

While he has since reunited with dad King Charles on multiple occasions, he and brother Prince William are still not on speaking terms.

When the estrangement came up during Monday’s sitdown, the 9th Earl Spencer dodged the question by asking, “Is it all right if we don’t do too much Harry stuff?”

When the reporter agreed, Spencer expressed his gratitude.

Elsewhere in the interview, the 62-year-old noted that Harry’s reaction to his forthcoming “Swan Song: Diana, My Sister” memoir was to joke that he hoped there was “nothing embarrassing about him” in it.

Spencer recalled, “I told [him and William] at the same time, and all I would say is one was… I can say that Harry is completely fine about it.”

Without elaborating on William’s thoughts in particular, Spencer said, “I think they were actually worried where I was going up to with the book. … I think it’s natural that people so in the public eye are concerned how they will come across in the book.”

However, he “reassure[d] both of” the brothers that he did not “compromis[e] their privacy at all” as their portrayal in the book was simply “as examples of two little boys who had the most exceptional mother.”

While it is unclear when the conversation took place, Harry last visited Spencer at the latter’s Althorp estate in July — and has since moved back to England with wife Meghan Markle and their two kids.

Excerpts from Spencer’s memoir, which publishes Tuesday, have featured scathing takes on Charles’ allegedly “elated” reaction to Diana’s fatal car crash in August 1997.

Spencer admitted it “was a concern” that Harry, 42, and William, 44, would be bothered by his stories about their monarch father.

“I don’t want this to sound loaded, but there was an awful lot I could have put in and I didn’t,” he claimed. “If I wanted to write a scandalous book about Prince Charles or King Charles as he is now, it would really be a jaw-dropper, but I’m not here to do that.”

Page Six reported last week that the allegations did not “come as a shock” to Harry as he had been made aware ahead of time.

While William has not spoken out about the book, Charles released a scorching statement last week.

“His Majesty is mindful that the pain of fraternal grief can cloud reason, affect judgment and color memory in ways others do not recognize, even many years after such a loss,” a Buckingham Palace spokesperson wrote.
