Producer begged Jeff Garlin not to ditch $800 standup gig over payment snafu

The producer of the comedy show that Jeff Garlin ditched is blaming the “Curb Your Enthusiasm” star for the debacle.

As we reported, Garlin star refused to do a standup set at Calabasas Country Club last Thursday because he had asked to be paid the $800 fee in cash, but organizers only had a check for him.

But the guy who puts the show together says Garlin refused to let them put the error right so that he could go on stage as planned.

The producer — who has been running a show at the tony L.A.-area venue for 13 years — told Page Six that Garlin had only mentioned being paid in cash once, two months before the show.

And he says that as soon as the oversight came to light — when Garlin arrived at the venue — they profusely apologized and offered multiple ways to get the cash to him, including delivering it to his house the following morning. They say they may even have been able to have the greenbacks for him by the time he got off stage.

But we’re told Garlin wouldn’t even listen to possible solutions. He left, even though many of the hundred or so audience members who’d paid $60-a-ticket had already seen him at the club.

“He never gave us a chance,” said the producer, who asked not to be named.

He said that recent headliners at his show include Tom Arnold, “Mike and Molly” star Billy Gardell and “Seinfeld’s” Patrick Warburton. 

The producer said that he’d know Garlin for nearly 40 years, and he was stunned and saddened by the move.

“I could lose my job [with the country club] over this, and he just could not have cared less,” he said. “Not to mention the people who’d paid to see him.”

Reps for Garlin didn’t get back to us.
