Rapper Rod Wave was arrested on drug and weapon charges in Georgia — on the same day he was nominated for his first-ever Grammy Award.
The 27-year-old, whose real name is Rodarius Green, was taken into custody by the Atlanta Police Department (APD) on four charges on Friday, Nov. 7, according to Fulton County public records.
He was charged with possession of a firearm or knife during the commission of or attempt to commit a felony, reckless driving and two counts of possession of a controlled substance, per public records. The records additionally indicate that he was released from police custody on Saturday, Nov. 8.
PEOPLE reached out to the APD and the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office for comment on Saturday, Nov. 8, but did not receive an immediate response.
In a statement to TMZ, Wave’s attorneys, Drew Findling, Marissa Goldberg and Zack Findling, said the rapper “was unjustly profiled and unlawfully arrested in Atlanta.”
“The arresting officer belongs to the Atlanta Police Department’s controversial Crime Suppression Unit — a group known for its aggressive tactics and emphasis on high arrest numbers rather than genuine public safety,” the attorneys added.
They additionally told the outlet that their client’s arrest was a result of the unit’s “quota-driven approach,” and said the arrest was a “clear violation of [his] rights.”
Drew Findling told TMZ that his client had already made his first court appearance and was released on a bond of $8,000.
The rapper was previously arrested twice in Georgia earlier this year — in May on 14 separate charges, including aggravated assault and conspiracy to commit a felony, per public records, and again in June for battery.

Wave was nominated for his first-ever Grammy Award on Nov. 7 in the category of Best Song Written for Visual Media for his song “Sinners,” which appeared in the 2025 film Sinners.
He currently has an upcoming nationwide tour, The Redemption Experience Tour, scheduled to begin in late 2025. His first performance is slated for Dec. 7 in Los Angeles.
