Simone Biles Claps Back Over Criticism of Her Invitation to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s Wedding

Simone Biles had no time for people questioning why she was invited to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce‘s lavish wedding.

The Olympic gymnast, 29, celebrated that she and her husband, NFL star Jonathan Owens, were among the dozens of celebrities to attend Swift, 36, and Kelce’s nuptials at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Friday, July 3.

“The perfect love story, followed by the perfect nighTT,” she wrote along a carousel of photos from the night.

One Instagram user had a question about how she scored an invite, asking in the comments section, “When has Simone Biles and Taylor Swift even spoken to each other?😂”

Biles was quick to shut down the speculation, replying, “Remember this, I only show y’all what I want y’all to know.”

The Olympian previously confirmed that she wore a red and metallic haute couture dress by DO LONG and jewelry by Maison Spoiled High Jewelry for Friday’s wedding.

“What a night ❤️ So grateful to be able to witness such a beautiful ceremony with so many amazing people,” she wrote via Instagram on Sunday, July 5. “We love to celebrate love, a night we’ll truly never forget 🤞🏽 Congratulations to the couple!!! #T&T.”

The pair’s longtime friendship actually dates back a decade to when the “I Knew It, I Knew You” musician publicly supported Team USA’s gymnastics squad during the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio. Biles returned the favor by performing to Swift’s hit “…Ready for It?” during the 2024 Olympic trials.

When Biles withdrew from multiple events at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, Swift narrated a tribute video for Biles, set to her song “This Is Me Trying.”

“I cried watching YOU,” Swift responded via X. “I feel so lucky to have gotten to watch you all these years, but this week was a lesson in emotional intelligence and resilience. We all learned from you. Thank you.”

Aside from her long friendship with Swift, Biles is never shy to defend herself when fans cross personal boundaries. Shortly after recovering from a recent health scare, Biles corrected fans questioning why she decided to follow through on a vacation so soon.

“Ugh these comments make me sad. a little over two weeks ago, I experienced a serious medical emergency that could have ended very differently, and this trip has been part of allowing myself to heal & appreciate being here,” Biles clarified earlier this month.

She went on, “Hope you understand that life changing experiences can shift your perspective. & that you’re able to extend a little more grace to others moving forward 😘 have a nice day!”
