Sportscaster Michelle Beadle sends scathing warning to ‘female sportspeople’ criticizing Dianna Russini over Mike Vrabel pics
Sportscaster Michelle Beadle sent a scathing warning to “female sportspeople” who are criticizing Dianna Russini over the photos of her with married NFL coach Mike Vrabel.
“What I find interesting is the number of female sportspeople who have felt very comfortable in getting out there and blasting specifically her,” Beadle, who is part of the San Antonio Spurs broadcast team, said on her “Beadle & Decker” podcast Monday.
“Ladies, at some point, I will write a book. And the more I see you yapping out there about all this high and mighty, self-righteous, I know a lot about a lot of you,” she added.
“So be careful.”
Beadle, 50, said she also “made stupid mistakes,” but she “was lucky” because it happened before social media became prevalent.
“Like, that’s that is a blessing. But yeah, let’s be careful on throwing stones,” the sports reporter added.
Beadle then talked about how “misogyny” is playing a role in the situation between Russini and Vrabel.
“She’s got her job on the line. He’s not — he doesn’t have his job on the line,” she said as her podcast co-host, Cody Decker, said he was “bothered” the New England Patriots coach, also 50, isn’t going to be conducting a pre-draft interview.
“Terrible decisions, terrible optics, but at the end of the day, two consenting adults making bad decisions for their personal lives,” Beadle said.
“I don’t know why this is affecting jobs. I really don’t,” she shared.
Beadle’s comments came one day before news surfaced that Russini, 43, had resigned from her position as Senior NFL Insider at The Athletic after Page Six published photos of her at a luxury hotel with Vrabel.
The journalist — who has been married to Kevin Goldschmidt since September 2020 — wrote in her resignation letter that she is leaving her job to stop the speculation and damage surrounding the situation.
“Moreover, this media frenzy is hurtling forward without regard for the review process The Athletic is trying to complete,” Russini penned.
“It continues to escalate, fueled by repeated leaks, and I have no interest in submitting to a public inquiry that has already caused far more damage than I am willing to accept,” she added.
“Rather than allowing this to continue, I have decided to step aside now — before my current contract expires on June 30. I do so not because I accept the narrative that has been constructed around this episode, but because I refuse to lend it further oxygen or to let it define me or my career.”
Last month, Mike — who has been married to Jen Vrabel since 1999 — and Russini were spotted together at a resort in Sedona, Arizona, in exclusive pics obtained by Page Six.
In the snap, the reporter and the former linebacker were seen hugging and holding hands.
Both Russini and Mike denied that anything romantic was going on between the two of them.
“These photos show a completely innocent interaction and any suggestion otherwise is laughable. This doesn’t deserve any further response,” the head coach told Page Six in a statement.
Russini also told us, “The photos don’t represent the group of six people who were hanging out during the day. Like most journalists in the NFL, reporters interact with sources away from stadiums and other venues.”
Despite their denials, Russini was sidelined by the New York Times last week, Page Six exclusively reported.
