Sporty Spice gets married in borrowed Victoria Beckham dress

Melanie Chisholm’s wedding dress came with a Posh pedigree.

The Spice Girls singer, 52, wed model Chris Dingwall on Saturday in a custom gown designed by former bandmate Victoria Beckham.

The ceremony — held at friend’s lakeside property in Cumbria, UK — was the couple’s second. They legally wed earlier in Dingwall’s native Australia, and Chisholm borrowed a dress straight out of Beckham’s closet for the occasion.

“I was actually having dinner with Melanie and asked her what she was up to,” the designer told British Vogue. “She very casually told me she was leaving for Australia in two days and getting married!”

Chisholm had ordered the label’s lace-trimmed cami dress but couldn’t have it altered before her flight, so Beckham, 52, offered up hers, which she had worn to EE72 editor Edward Enninful’s wedding in February 2022. (It’s still in stock in several sizes — and on sale for 40% off.)

The floor-length ivory slip has a soft V neckline, a low back, skinny straps and lace appliqués that trail across the bust and down one hip — a ’90s-inspired silhouette for a woman who helped define the decade.

“There’s just something about her clothes,” Chisholm said of Beckham’s designs. “They have a real simplicity, especially the slip dresses. They’re really feminine, but in a way that feels comfortable, and very me.”

For the UK party, Beckham reworked the design with custom-dyed lace hand-stitched over the bodice and skirt, plus a train added at the request of Chisholm’s 17-year-old daughter, Scarlet.

The figure-skimming cut showcased the star’s sculpted arms and shoulders.

The festivities were also something of a Spice Girls reunion: Mel B, Emma Bunton and Geri Halliwell-Horner all made the trip to the Lake District.

Beckham couldn’t attend, but her work walked the aisle. Chisholm finished the look with the label’s champagne satin Harlow heels and Dorian clutch, and carried a loose bunch of wildflowers. The groom wore a Zegna suit.

Friendship never ends — and neither does the tracksuit. Chisholm changed into wide-leg champagne trousers and a white sports bra for the reception.

The couple met on Raya and had their first date in Australia in November 2023, and Dingwall proposed in Mallorca last July.
