Stevie Nicks’ Younger Brother Christopher Nicks Dead at 72 After Private Cancer Battle: ‘Rest Easy’
Stevie Nicks’ younger brother Christopher Aaron Nicks has died after a private cancer battle. He was 72.
“It is with a broken heart that I announce the passing of my father, Christopher A. Nicks, early this morning, surrounded by family,” Aaron’s daughter, Nixi Parkinson Nicks, wrote via Facebook on Saturday, September 5, confirming her father’s passing one day prior. “Some of you may know that he spent the last 2.5 years battling a cancer diagnosis, and to some this may come as a shock. If this is news to you, please know it was because he never wanted people to worry about him that he kept this to himself.”
Nixi, who her father shared with his ex-wife, Lori Perry-Nicks, a former backup singer for his famous sister, continued, “I know that he has left his mark on so many people, and this will leave many more than his immediate family with a piece of them missing. I know I speak for my dad when I say that his friends, his lost boys, meant the world to him.”
She concluded her announcement by speaking to her late father directly, writing, “Rest easy, Coach. We will see you in Neverland.”
Nixi also confirmed her father’s passing via Instagram, sharing a black-and-white photo of the devout daughter holding her dad’s hand as he appeared to lay in bed.
“Second star on the right, and straight on til morning,” she captioned the emotional post. “I love you daddy. Rest easy. “
Christopher was Stevie’s only sibling. The legendary Fleetwood Mac singer, 78, has not publicly addressed her brother’s passing at the time of publication.
Mick Fleetwood, Stevie’s former bandmate and legendary drummer, shared a tribute to Christopher via Instagram on Saturday in the wake of his death.
The passing of Chris Nicks has brought so many memories of his amazing life.. Much of course was shared connected to Fleetwood Mac..” Mick, 79, wrote alongside a throwback photo of the brother-sister duo. “His zest for life will be a forever beacon of inspiration! Chris you will be missed by me and I know the Family of Fleetwood Mac. Peace and love.”
Christopher’s ex-wife, Lori, commented on her daughter’s Facebook post announcing his death and sharing her own tribute to her forever coparent.
“Beautifully said my angle. And as the mother of a very dear friend of Christopher’s said… ‘He loved life!’ and no doubt he lived it to the fullest… Following his own rules!!!” she wrote in the comments section. “We will all miss him, in so many ways… He was an anomaly.. And they certainly broke the mold when they created him. There will never be another one like him…. I miss you already, RD…”
