Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding guests thought Adam Sandler officiating ceremony ‘was a joke’
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s larger-than-life wedding apparently fooled guests in more ways than one as one guest revealed how guests initially believed Adam Sandler’s appearance to officiate “was a joke.”
“Adam Sandler officiated it,” American Century Investments CEO Jonathan Thomas, who knows Kelce “fairly well,” told hosts Sean Russo and Downtown Josh Brown on the Thursday episode of the “Compound and Friends” podcast.
“He came down, everybody laughed and thought it was a joke at first.”
“He actually spoke for 20 or 30 minutes, vacillated between funny, very sincere, sang a few things. There are two things that I remember distinctly, one is in your typical vows the officiator says, ‘For rich or for poor,’ and he said, ‘You’re not going to have to worry about that.’” Thomas recalled, referencing Swift’s reported $2 billion net worth and Kelce’s wealth.
The businessman told the host that the “SNL” alum left the couple with a message to: “Kiss each other every day, in the morning, at night after dinner, just kiss often.”
Thomas went on to remember how the couple brought their group of gathered guests to tears with their personally written vows.
“Travis went first with his vows,” Thomas shared. “He probably spoke for 30 minutes and I don’t want to violate his privacy but I was crying, which I was trying to hold back. He made himself unbelievably vulnerable. And then I look around and there’s all these 300-pound men from the football business crying as well, so I felt really comfortable to let go on it.”
“And then Taylor went and she also wrote her own vows. She probably spoke for 30 minutes and it was poetic. It was really well done,” he continued.
Other guests in attendance who also couldn’t help but shed a few tears in the audience included Kyle and Kristin Juszczyk.
“I definitely teared up,” Kyle exclusively told Page Six on Thursday night. “Their vows were so good, and it was hard not to.”
“I cry at every single wedding,” Kristin added. “Like, I don’t think there’s ever been a wedding that I haven’t cried at.”
The couple looked back on the “legendary” wedding, describing it as the “best night ever.”
“Yeah, truly, truly legendary.” the 35-year-old San Francisco 49ers player said,
The duo added that it felt “wild” to be on the dance floor, rubbing shoulders with a slew of famous guests, including Lena Dunham, Mariska Hargitay, Hugh Grant, Selena Gomez, Bradley Cooper, Sabrina Carpenter, Adam Sandler, Emma Stone, and Tom Brady, with Kristin noting that she needs “to journal” about the night so she doesn’t forget any details.
