Terry Crews’ wife, Rebecca, reveals Parkinson’s battle more than a decade after diagnosis

Terry Crews’ wife, Rebecca King-Crews, revealed her Parkinson’s disease diagnosis on the “Today” show Monday.

The 60-year-old was diagnosed back in 2015 but decided to “come forward now” because she recently underwent a procedure “to help with the symptoms on one side of [her] body.”

During a joint interview with her husband, she gushed, “I’m seeing improvement. … I’m able to write my name, my dates, I’m able to write with my right hand for the first time in probably three years.”

The singer noted she will “still [be] in recovery” for three months and continue to see improvement over that time, with a second procedure scheduled for September for the other side of her body.

Rebecca told viewers her first symptom was a “slight numbness” in her left foot, as well as her arm not swinging when she walked.

Her subsequent arm tremots were dismissed by a doctor as anxiety.

“It’s not uncommon with us ladies for someone to call everything stress,” she explained. “I asked for referrals, and I got them. And it took three years to diagnose me.”

Rebecca decided to share her story — despite not wanting “pity” before — because she wanted to spread awareness on the procedure and “believe[s] we are going to find a cure.”

Terry, who married Rebecca in July 1989, got emotional during Monday’s sitdown as he praised the “superhero” as the “rock” of their family.

The couple, notably, share five children — Naomi, Azriél, Tera, Wynfrey and Isaiah.

“Watch[ing] her go through what she [went] through the last 10 to 12 years has been very, very hard,” the actor said, also referencing Rebecca’s 2020 breast cancer battle. “The tremors, the not sleeping, the loss of balance.

“But to watch her write her name for the first time in three years, let me tell you,” the “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” alum continued. “I don’t know what to say, I’m choked up just thinking about it.”

The pair also opened up to People on Monday about Rebecca’s Parkinson’s battle.

“I’m doing 90 percent of what I want to do,” Rebecca told the outlet. “Terry is my rock. And I thank God that he has the means to take care of me, allowing me to go to doctors and get the procedures I need.”

Terry, for his part, added that while “there are days when there is nothing [he] can do” besides “hold her as she cries,” his “mission is to make sure she gets the best care possible.”

The “America’s Got Talent” host declared, “Where she’s weak, I’m strong.”
