Rapper Lil Tjay arrested in connection with Offset shooting at Florida casino
Lil Tjay was arrested after Offset was shot at a Florida casino.
According to arrest records obtained by Page Six, the “Calling My Phone” emcee, born Tione Jayden Merritt, was booked into the Broward County Jail on Monday and charged with misdemeanor disorderly conduct-affray.
The musician, 24, gave a slight smile as he stared into the camera for his mugshot. His bond has been set at $500 and is currently pending, per the records.
The Seminole Police told Page Six that “one person has been charged in connection with the incident that took place Monday night at a valet area outside of Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood.”
Authorities told us the “incident began with an affray, or fight,” and that a second person was also “detained” but not charged.
“The investigation to identify one or more additional persons involved in the incident is ongoing,” they told us, adding that Offset “remains at Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood, Florida, with a non-life-threatening injury.”
However, Tjay’s attorney, Dawn Florio, denied that her client had anything to do with the shooting.
“We are issuing this release in regards to false rumors that Lil Tjay was involved in a shooting … which [resulted] in non-life-threatening injuries to Offset, formerly a member of Migos,” Florio wrote in a statement shared via Instagram Monday.
“Lil Tjay has not been shot, nor has Lil Tjay been charged with any shooting. Any reporting to the contrary is false,” the attorney stated.
“We encourage people to consult trusted news sources and to verify the accuracy of any reporting before reflexively sharing or repeating baseless rumors.”
Page Six has reached out to Offset’s rep for comment but did not immediately hear back.
As Page Six previously reported, Offset, whose real name is Kiari Cephus, was shot on Monday near the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida.
“We can confirm Offset was shot and is currently at the hospital receiving medical care. He is stable and being closely monitored,” the “Bad and Boujee” rapper’s rep told Page Six.
“Seminole Police were on site immediately, and the situation was contained quickly,” they added.
“The investigation is ongoing. The site is secure, and there is no threat to the public. Operations continue as normal.”
The shooter’s identity and motive remain unclear at this time.
Moments before the shooting, the estranged husband of Cardi B was seen smiling and taking photos with fans at a casino.
Eerily enough, Offset’s bandmate Takeoff (born Kirsnick Khari Ball) was shot and killed by a stray bullet at a Houston bowling alley following a dice game argument in November 2022.
