The Valley’s Nia Sanchez Reacts to Fans Urging Her to Leave Danny: ‘Committed to Making It Work’ (Exclusive)
The Valley’s Nia Sanchez and Danny Booko are focused on their relationship — not the noise from critical viewers.
“We are committed to our marriage and we’re both committed to making it work,” Nia, 36, exclusively shared with Us Weekly on Monday, June 1. “Depending on the season of life and who’s going through what and all those things, it might mean that one person is putting in a little more work than the other, but we both are committed to making it work.”
During season 2 of The Valley, some viewers — and even some costars — have raised their eyebrows after watching Nia and Danny’s dynamics play out as a couple.
On May 20, Danny, 42, issued a public apology to his wife for the way he spoke to her during a cast trip in San Diego, California. In the episode, Danny felt Nia wasn’t devoting enough time to help him prepare for a drag competition. The couple later had a tense fight that broke the fourth wall.
“All marriages go through ups and downs and highs and lows, and I feel like nobody wants their lower moments in their marriage to be all over the world on TV,” Nia explained. “But all we could do was live our life in the realest way that it was in that moment, and all we can do now is continue to work hard on our marriage to get back to a healthy and strong place because that’s always been our foundation.”
In addition to participating in “consistent” couples therapy, both Danny and Nia – who share Asher, 4, twins Isabelle and Zariah, 2, and Adelaide, 12 months — told Us that they are being more cognizant of how they express their feelings and talk to one another.
“We’re really going back to basics with communication,” Nia shared. “If you watch the season, our communication was not great in that window of time.”
While Danny previously shared on Instagram that he is “embarrassed by and not proud of” his behavior in some scenes, the harsh comments from naysayers have been overwhelming.
“Unfortunately, thousands of hate comments that I’ve been getting are just so hard and so vulgar and so just extreme,” he said. “I have never experienced anything like this in my life.”
At the same time, Danny shared that he’s received some feedback from viewers that remind him and Nia that they are not alone.
“There’s been an overwhelming support of obviously not my behavior, but of people that have kids, of people that have been in marriages for a really long time, saying, ‘Look, we get it. We’ve had moments like these over and over,’” Danny shared. “It’s a tough season of life regardless.”
The Valley airs on Bravo Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET. Stream new episodes the next day on Peacock.
