Tony Hinchcliffe hurls vulgar expletive at Chelsea Handler after Kevin Hart roast
Tony Hinchcliffe labeled Chelsea Handler a “c–t” as he hit back at her criticism over his “racist” jokes at Kevin Hart’s Netflix roast earlier this month.
“There’s news articles — ’cause the news isn’t real, nothing is real — that say that I got lit up by Chelsea Handler, which is very, very funny because that’s not what happened at all,” Hinchcliffe said on Monday’s episode of his “Kill Tony” podcast. “You can’t believe anything you see or read on the news anymore. You have to actually watch the thing for yourself.”
“She was a bit of a c–t, I’ll tell you that. She just kept coming at me,” he continued, adding that the writers of Hart’s roast “just didn’t do her any justice.”
Hinchcliffe recalled: “Fun fact: the teleprompter only went down during my set and it gave me a lot of opportunity to remind Chelsea Handler what she looks like and where her life is because she had it coming.”
“When Chelsea kept coming at me, I’m like, ‘Oh, I’m gonna f–k this bitch up,’” he added.
Hinchcliffe’s comments come shortly after Handler, 51, took aim at both him and roast MC Shane Gillis, calling them “racists” and “bigots” during her May 20 appearance on “Deon Cole’s Funny Knowing You” podcast.
“I knew enough about Tony and Shane — they’re racists, they’re bigots, they’re sexist,” the “Chelsea Handler Show” star said.
“I don’t find those jokes funny,” she went on, referencing Gillis’ wise crack about Hart’s height where he joked Hart, 46, was so short “they’re gonna have to lynch him from a bonsai tree.”
“Lynching black people is not a joke,” Handler insisted. “It’s worse than rape.”
Gillis later threw a jab back at Handler in response to her comments, telling Page Six through a rep: “This is a big moment for Chelsea. I am glad she’s capitalizing. Good for her. We’re all rooting for her. Anyway come see me July 17th at the football stadium in Philly.”
Handler also found issue with Hinchcliffe’s joke about the death of Sheryl Underwood’s late husband who died by suicide back in 1990, but claimed she “knew” the roast was going to have “a gross vibe.”
While Underwood was shown on the roast laughing at Hinchecliffe’s jokes, the comedian later reflected on the jabs referencing her late husband, telling Entertainment Tonight they were made “in poor taste.”
But the jokes Underwood felt went too far were Hinchcliffe’s about George Floyd, where he said Floyd was “looking at us all and laughing so hard that he can’t breathe,” and Gillis’ about lynching.
“I think people should be upset, like the George Floyd jokes, the bonsai tree jokes, things like that.” Underwood said.
She continued: “I want to get to know what is in your brain that makes you think this is OK?”
“I told Tony Hinchcliffe personally, ‘You gotta deal with the Floyd family — and they got hands,’” she added. “You’re talking about someone’s relative. And not that the joke wasn’t well written, but would you say that this generation of roasting and comics, they do stuff that most people would think are in poor taste but it still makes you laugh.”
Hart also threw his two cents in on the matter, telling “The Breakfast Club” Tuesday he found the George Floyd joke was not “tasteful” to “our culture, to our audience.”
“But, our audience that’s watching the roast, if they’re watching the roast, you get why they’re doing it,” he explained. “You get why the racial humor is on the table. I wasn’t shocked.”
