What to Watch This Weekend (July 12-13): 10 Best New Movies and Shows to Stream Now (Including the Biggest Movie of the Summer!)

We’re about halfway through summer, but the box office is only picking up!
This weekend, July 12-13, we’ve got arguably one of the biggest movies of the summer in store that’ll please our superhero lovers, as well as a major season finale that’ll leave our reality TV fans with countless more hours in their weeks.
Tired of reality competition shows (honorable mention to Bachelor in Paradise, which also premiered this week!) and missing some good old sports in the off-season? All good, Netflix has you covered with the second season of Quarterback, among a flurry of other projects this week.
And there’s more! Here’s a list of the 10 best new movies and shows to watch this weekend and where to stream them.
Superman
After a round of shakeups at DC Studios following the appointment of James Gunn and Peter Safran as co-CEOs, the studio announced the first movie to launch DC into a new era would be Superman — with a new star donning the cape.
David Corenswet stars in Superman, which is notably not an origin story but just a classic Superman tale that gives the character depth (and even flaws!) like he’s never had before.
Superman releases in theaters on July 11.
Love Island USA season 7 finale
Social media hasn’t been a safe place for those who are out of the loop on pop culture’s latest phenomenon: Love Island USA.
But, after over a month of nearly daily releases, the season is coming to an end. What will our loyal Love Island USA fans do with their time? We’re almost concerned — they’re going to have to go outside! Or make plans on weekdays!
The void the finale of season 7 will leave in fans’ lives will set in after the July 13 episode, which you can also watch live among your fellow obsessed peers at one of the many watch parties popping up around major U.S. cities!
Watch the season 7 finale of Love Island USA on Sunday, July 13 at 9 p.m. ET on Peacock.
Too Much
Girls girls, gather: Lena Dunham is back with a new series and it’ll have you laughing, rolling your eyes and tearing up just as much as her beloved 2012 HBO show.
Too Much follows Megan Stalter as Jessica, a producer who’s just been broken up with by her horrible ex-boyfriend. In an attempt to reinvent herself, she moves to London, where she meets Felix (Will Sharpe), an indie musician who steals her heart. But it’s never that simple, is it?

It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia season 17
The Gang is back! After taking a hiatus for two years, one of the longest-running sitcoms of all time — and one of the gnarliest groups of friends to grace our screens — returns with eight more episodes to give Philadelphia its time in the spotlight.
Starring the usual suspects — Rob McElhenney as Mac, Kaitlin Olson as Dee Reynolds, Glenn Howerton as Dennis Reynolds, Charlie Day as Charlie Kelly and Danny DeVito as Frank Reynolds — It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia revisits the Gang as they continue to con their way through life.

Trainwreck: The Real Project X
So, what would you do if your 16th birthday party accidentally turned into a rager with tens of thousands of people? Me, personally, I would shut it down before it even started. But that is not what a teenage girl in a small Dutch town did back in 2012 when her invitation accidentally went viral on Facebook.
Netflix’s latest installment in its Trainwreck docuseries, The Real Project X, looks back at the chaos that descended upon Haren — and how the night got wilder and wilder as it went on.

Quarterback season 2
The stretch from February to September marks a long seven months for football fans and Netflix knows that: so what better way to boost morale than to release a show about the stars of every football team smack dab in the middle of off-season?
This time around, Quarterback focuses on three more star athletes: Cincinnati Bengals’ Joe Burrow, Atlanta Falcons’ Kirk Cousins and Detroit Lions’ Jared Goff. From balancing their families to the mounting pressure on them on the field, Quarterback reminds us that they’re just people doing their best too (with a team of 52 other players relying on them, Super Bowls at stake and a one-man job, but you know. They’re just like us!).

ZOMBIES 4: Dawn of the Vampires
Parents looking for something a little more kid-friendly this week? Well, Disney+ has you covered with the premiere of the fourth iteration of the ZOMBIES franchise, ZOMBIES 4: Dawn of the Vampires.
This time, the beloved gang of teen monsters takes a summer road trip that quickly is derailed when they end up in a new land with warring monsters. When they try to unite them, chaos erupts … and their breakouts into song and dance may not be enough to save the day!

Building the Band
If The Voice and Love Is Blind had a child, it would be Building the Band, Netflix’s newest singing competition show, where 50 singers are challenged to form six bands without ever seeing each other and only hearing everyone sing through a wall.
Guiding them are a few people who know a thing or two about bands: AJ Mclean of the Backstreet Boys serves as host, while Nicole Scherzinger of The Pussycat Dolls, Kelly Rowland of Destiny’s Child and Liam Payne of One Direction serve as judges.
The show, which marked Payne’s last project before his death in October 2024, kicks off with a touching tribute to the late superstar before introducing the contestants.

Dexter: Resurrection
You can’t keep a good (man) down, and Dexter proves just that as he is, as the title so aptly puts it, resurrected weeks after he took a bullet in the finale of New Blood.
Now, Michael C. Hall returns as everyone’s favorite serial killer hunter in Dexter: Resurrection and is on the prowl for his son.
Watch Dexter: Resurrection on Paramount+.
Tyler Perry’s Madea’s Destination Wedding
After over a dozen movies, you didn’t think Madea was going anywhere, did you?
Except she actually is because, this time, she’s traveling with her brood to the Bahamas for a family wedding — but in typical Madea fashion, she has some things to say about it.
Watch Tyler Perry’s Madea’s Destination Wedding on Netflix.
