Why Jennifer Garner doesn’t want Ben Affleck to date after failed Jennifer Lopez marriage

Jennifer Garner believes Ben Affleck taking a break from dating could be the best move for her ex-husband following his divorce from Jennifer Lopez.

“Jen thinks it might actually be good for Ben to take a break from dating for a while. She cares about him a lot and only wants what’s best for him at the end of the day,” a source exclusively told Page Six.

“From her perspective, he’s happier than he’s been in a long time and she feels like it could be healthy for him to keep putting that energy into himself, his work and his family instead of jumping into a relationship.”

The insider added that Garner, 54, isn’t trying to influence Affleck’s personal life, however, and would support whatever decision he ultimately makes.

“That said, she trusts Ben to make his own decisions and supports him either way,” the source said.

However, a second source told Page Six that the “Gone Girl” star, 53, isn’t completely closing the door on romance.

“Ben isn’t ruling out dating and would be open to putting himself out there again,” the source said. “He has friends who have offered to set him up, but he’s also incredibly busy right now and isn’t sure he has the time for a serious, committed relationship.”

According to the insider, the two-time Oscar winner’s main focus “at the moment” is his family and several upcoming projects, and “that’s where most of his energy is going.”

Reps for Affleck and Garner did not immediately respond to Page Six’s requests for comment.

The “Batman” star and the “13 Going on 30” actress — who were married for 10 years, from 2005 until 2015 —  coparent their three children: Violet, 20, Seraphina, 17, and Samuel, 14.

The exes recently reunited last month as they took their daughter Violet to an urgent care in Los Angeles.

The Yale University student hobbled into the medical center with the help of her famous parents, as seen in photos obtained by Page Six.

The “Argo” star wrapped his arm around Violet as the Emmy nominee helped guide the pair into the facility.

As previously reported, a source told Page Six that the former couple had been “spending more time together than ever” since Affleck’s divorce from Lopez, 56.

Affleck and Garner “really do have a close bond,” an insider said at the time, adding that both “know not all exes get along” as well. “They feel very grateful that they have such an amazing relationship.”

Lopez and Affleck first began dating in 2002 after working together on the set of “Gigli.” They got engaged for the first time in November of that year but called it quits in January 2004. The two rekindled their romance — and got engaged for a second time — years later in 2021.

In August 2024, on the second anniversary of their Georgia wedding ceremony (which they held after eloping in Las Vegas on July 17, 2022), Lopez filed for divorce from “The Rip” star.
