Zendaya wows in towering couture headpiece at ‘The Odyssey’ Paris event
Zendaya’s “The Odyssey” press tour looks keep getting better and better.
The actress had fans audibly gasping with her latest look at the photocall in Paris Tuesday — a white Givenchy by Alexander McQueen dress, which she paired with a show-stopping pointy gold headpiece that covered her face.
The headpiece, designed by Philip Treacy, showed only her eyes and her lips, and she kept the drama going with dark burgundy lipstick.
The knee-length dress, which features heavy, exaggerated sleeves and padded shoulders, has an interesting fashion history.
Aside from being visually stunning, the Alexander McQueen 1997 couture look is perfectly on theme — it’s part of the Spring/Summer 1997 Haute Couture collection that was the late designer’s debut for Givenchy, which was inspired by Greek mythology.
The collection, which is made up entirely of white and gold looks, divided critics at the time, but has clearly become iconic. Kendall Jenner memorably wore an ethereal winged look from the collection at a 2024 Met Gala after-party.
In director Christopher Nolan’s highly anticipated “The Odyssey,” Zendaya plays Athena, the Greek goddess of wisdom and warfare.
The 29-year-old star has been putting on a master class in couture dressing with her longtime stylist, Law Roach, as she promotes the film aside the star-studded cast, including her husband, Tom Holland.
At the London premiere Monday, she stole the show in a straight-off-the-runway Schiaparelli gown. She also turned heads for her radiant makeup look, using the Charlotte Tilbury Unreal Highlighter.
On Sunday, she looked ethereal in a custom white Jacquemes gown.
Zendaya recently reflected on filming “The Odyssey” alongside A-listers Anne Hathaway, Matt Damon, Charlize Theron, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o and more in an interview for the “Happy Sad Confused” podcast.
“It was such a pleasure and a gift to be able to share scenes with people you admire,” she shared. “Part of you has to compartmentalize to a degree. Lock in, we’re working. But I was so moved and excited to be there and wanted to do my best work.”
Nolan was clearly impressed with Zendaya’s performance, telling Elle, “I mean, she’s literally playing a goddess; it’s a tall order. She’s a true movie star, but also an incredible actor.”
