Andy Cohen admits to ‘micro-dosing’ on weight-loss medication
Andy Cohen candidly revealed he recently lost “a good chunk of weight” this summer after he started “micro-dosing” on a GLP-1 weight loss drug.
“I was really unhappy with my weight. My doctor and I talked about this last year, had recommended a GLP-1 a few times to not only address what I was feeling about my weight, but treat plaque in my arteries and high blood pressure,” Cohen said on the Tuesday’s episode of his SiriusXM “Andy Cohen Live” radio show.
The star didn’t disclose which GLP-1 medication he was taking but explained that it “is a medication that actually is beneficial to a lot of elements of health and I finally said yes.”
The Bravo exec noted how using the drug helped curb his snacking habits, which he noted was his biggest problem amid his “pretty rigorous” fitness journey.
“I have to say, it really helped me with cravings,” he continued, “which I was having a very hard time with, and really forcing myself to be more disciplined with my diet and with working out.”
Cohen, 54, also acknowledged his privilege to be able to take advantage of the opportunity to try the drug through his insurance.
“This is a revolutionary drug. I’m so happy also to have been on this journey under the care of a doctor and working with a trainer to make sure that we have done this right. I will say, my appetite returned from the micro-dose, but I feel like it caused me to reframe my relationship with food because it was s–tty before this.”
The “Watch What Happens Live” host said he chose to share his use of the weight loss drug because he felt it “would be completely hypocritical not to share” after two decades of “asking people about their body regimens” on his shows.
Cohen is the latest celebrity among the list of stars who’ve admitted to using weight loss drugs like Ozempic and Mounjaro.
Several “Real Housewives” stars including Dolores Catania, Jennifer Fessler, and Heather Gay have all admitted to taking a chance on the big Hollywood craze.
Most recently, Serena Williams admitted to using the GLP-1 medication Ro to lose more than 30 pounds.
“I feel great,” she told People in July. “I feel really good and healthy. I feel light physically and light mentally.”
