Laura Dern and ‘White Lotus’ co-stars spotted filming for first time in France

Laura Dern is checking into Season 4.

The actress was spotted for the first time filming the upcoming installment of “The White Lotus” — which is set at a luxury hotel during the Cannes Film Festival in France — on Tuesday.

A month after replacing Helena Bonham Carter, Dern posed at the film festival’s iconic red steps alongside co-stars, Chris Messina, Marissa Long and Charlie Hall.

The foursome were dressed to the nines as they ascended the venue’s stairs.

“Survivor” contestant Charlie Davis, who series creator Mike White recently cast in the HBO drama, was spotted near Dern and what appeared to be her onscreen family.

AJ Michalka and Alexander Ludwig were also photographed filming their own scenes in the same location.

Production began in April — with Carter, 60, exiting the series days later.

“With filming just underway on season four of ‘The White Lotus,’ it had become apparent that the character which Mike White created for Helena Bonham Carter did not align once on set,” an HBO spokesperson told Page Six in an April statement. “The role has subsequently been rethought, is being rewritten and will be recast in the coming weeks.”

The statement called White, the network and producers “saddened” to not be working with the “Corpse Bride” star.

However, executives “very much hope to work with the legendary actress on another project soon.”

Dern, who was quickly cast in Carter’s place, has collaborated with White on multiple projects over the years.

The “Big Little Lies” actress made an uncredited voice cameo in Season 2 of “The White Lotus.”

The duo also worked together on 2007’s “Year of the Dog,” as well as 2011’s HBO drama “Enlightened.”

The new season of “The White Lotus” also includes Rosie Perez, Max Greenfield, Kumail Nanjiani, Chloe Bennet, Heather Graham, Steve Coogan and Sandra Bernhard.

Along with Davis, White tapped fellow “Survivor” contestant Kamilla Karthiges to make a cameo.

“Everybody’s invited, but there are gonna be two contestants that we’re flying out to be in the show, and they are Charlie and Kamilla,” White told “Survivor” host Jeff Probst on a video call from France during the “Survivor 50” finale last week.

The former competitors filmed a TikTok at the finale where they spoke in French, with Davis teasing, “Hopefully we’ll practice. … Thank you, Mike, we’re so excited!”

“Can’t wait to see you soon!” Karthigesu gushed.

White is no stranger to curating the perfect ensemble cast for the Emmy award-winning show.

In March, Michalka said while on the “Just Trish” podcast that the “smart” director “just knows, as soon as he sees it.”

Season 1 of “The White Lotus” (2021) was filmed in Hawaii, while Season 2 (2022) took place in Sicily.

The most recent season (2025) followed guests on a Thailand vacation.
