Mike Vrabel gushes over wife Jen and kids after Dianna Russini scandal at Patriots press conference
Mike Vrabel’s marriage seems to be business as usual after his scandal with Dianna Russini.
When asked during a New England Patriots press conference Wednesday about how he is dealing with the balance of football and family, he said things are “really good.”
“I appreciate [that] my family is great, I love Jen [Vrabel], I love the boys,” he continued, adding, “This spring is focused on the coaching, staff, the players.”
He also said of the coaches, “These guys go out and find a way to make it better.”
Vrabel notably skirted a reporter’s question about whether he regretted skipping day 3 of the NFL draft. As Page Six reported, he missed the important draft event to meet up with his wife for counseling, after which the NFL released a statement voicing support for his decision.
In April, Page Six obtained exclusive photos of the NFL coach and the New York Times sports reporter holding hands at a resort in Sedona, Arizona.
The photos, which were taken on March 28, captured Vrabel and Russini enjoying a private rooftop at the Ambiente, which is only accessible from one of the two-person bungalows and costs up to $2,160 a night.
They were also photographed having breakfast together, and hitting the pool and hot tub.
While multiple eyewitnesses told Page Six that they were not accompanied by anyone else, Vrabel and Russini, who are both married, insisted they were with friends who were not shown in the photos.
“These photos show a completely innocent interaction and any suggestion otherwise is laughable,” Mike said in a statement to Page Six at the time. “This doesn’t deserve any further response.”
Russini told Page Six in her own statement, “The photos don’t represent the group of six people who were hanging out during the day. Like most journalists, in the NFL, reporters interact with sources away from stadiums and other venues.”
The journalist announced her resignation on April 14 after the Athletic launched an investigation into their situation.
“This media frenzy is hurtling forward without regard for the review process the Athletic is trying to complete. It continues to escalate, fueled by repeated leaks, and I have no interest in submitting to a public inquiry that has already caused far more damage than I am willing to accept,” Russini said in the statement.
Mike addressed the scandal during a press conference that month ahead of the 2026 NFL Draft. He admitted to having “difficult conversations” with his family and said in part, “We believe in order to be successful on and off the field, you have to make good decisions. That includes me. That starts with me.”
Shortly after, Vrabel confirmed that he would be seeking counseling following the photo scandal.
Just hours later, Page Six obtained photos of Russini and Vrabel kissing at a Tribeca bar six years ago.
Photos from June 2021 of Vrabel and Russini renting a boat together — just months before Russini gave birth to her first child with husband Kevin Goldschmidt — were released in May.
Despite the drama, Russini and Goldschmidt were spotted kissing on Mother’s Day.
Vrabel, for his part, had an emergency 24-hour marriage summit with his wife in Park City, Utah last month during the draft.
