Former NFL Offensive Lineman Jordan Devey Dead at 38 After Apparent Suicide, Family Says

Former NFL player Jordan Devey has died. He was 38.

“Today would have been our 15th year anniversary. We have filled the walls of our homes and hearts with countless memories, joys, struggles and triumphs,” Jordan’s wife, Linsey Devey, wrote via Instagram on Thursday, July 23, announcing her husband’s death. “We brought four beautiful children into this world that have your eyes, freckles and compassion.”

She continued, “You were our hero and our hearts ache in your absence. We love you. We miss you. And as you said in your last words to me, ‘We’ll talk soon’ ❤️.”

Linsey also asked social media followers to donate to a newly created GoFundMe campaign to “ease the financial burdens that weigh heavy on [their family’s] hearts” following Jordan’s death.

“[Jordan’s] family [is navigating] an incredibly difficult and heartbreaking time,” Linsey’s friend wrote via GoFundMe, claiming that Jordan died by suicide. “As they face overwhelming emotional and financial challenges, including mounting medical expenses, the community is coming together to support Linsey and their children. The funds raised will help ease the financial burden, allowing them to focus on healing and moving forward without the added stress of immediate expenses.”

The statement added, “If you are able, please consider donating to support Linsey and their four children during this difficult time. Every donation, prayer and act of kindness is deeply appreciated and will remind them that they are surrounded by a community that loves them. Thank you for your generosity and for keeping the Devey family in your thoughts and prayers.”

Jordan played in the NFL for seven teams, including with the New England Patriots when they won the 2024 Super Bowl.  He ultimately retired in 2021 after a brief stint with the Buffalo Bills the year prior.

Following his NFL career, Jordan coached high school football in Idaho.

“Jordan Devey was a cherished member of the Eagle community, known for his unwavering dedication to serving others,” the GoFundMe obituary read, addressing the athlete’s life off the NFL gridiron. “Jordan spent countless hours volunteering as a coach for his own children’s teams and for the athletes at Eagle High School, where he was deeply loved by the players who saw him as a mentor, role model and friend. His commitment to uplifting those around him extended far beyond sports, as he faithfully served in his church, offering support, counsel and friendship to anyone in need.”

Jordan is survived by his wife, their four kids and his parents.
