Dakota Johnson Gets Candid About Maintaining Her Privacy Amid ‘Serious’ MGK Romance: ‘Don’t Care’

Dakota Johnson admittedly has no interest in publicly addressing certain aspects about her life.

“Even if I go to dinner with my manager or my lawyer, it’s like, ‘Seen with mystery man.’ I also don’t care,” Johnson, 36, said during the Friday, September 25, episode of Vogue’s “The Run-Through” podcast, stressing that she doesn’t try to correct certain false narratives. “I think it’s just, kind of, futile.”

She continued, “People are gonna believe what they wanna believe, and I don’t have the energy to fight for that. I would much rather focus on other things in my life. Every day, there’s something on the internet that’s ridiculous and true or not true, and I don’t care, like, get a life.”

In an effort to maintain her privacy, Johnson admitted to taking a purposeful step back from social media.

“Maybe when I was in my younger 20s, I had a moment of being on social media just for fun and laughs ’cause I love a clever thing,” she said. “But, I just don’t f*** with it. … I feel really uncomfortable with the constant documenting of people’s lives.”

In her personal life, Johnson recently sparked a romance with Machine Gun Kelly after they connected at their mutual friends Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s star-studded wedding this summer.

“They are seriously dating and their relationship has moved quickly,” a source exclusively told Us earlier this week. “There was an instant spark and they have been keeping in touch, talking and FaceTiming every day for the last month.”

As Us previously reported, Johnson and MGK, 36, enjoyed a low-key date night at Swift’s apartment in New York City earlier in September. The Verity actress later cheered on MGK when he walked in the Vogue World: Milano fashion show on Tuesday, September 22.

“Everyone knew this was actually serious when Dakota traveled to support Colson in Milan,” the insider told Us, referring to MGK’s real name, Colson Baker. “Dakota has a thing for musicians and is a hopeless romantic. Colson has this charm about him, which she was drawn to and she is really into him.”

Per the source, Johnson is already “completely smitten” by the Lost Americana musician.

“Dakota really wants to settle down and start a family,” the insider added. “They are having a lot of fun right now, getting to know each other.”

The source further noted that Johnson, who has been candid about her eventual hopes to become a parent, has yet to meet MGK’s daughters Casie, 17, and Saga, 17 months. (MGK shares Casie with Emma Cannon and Saga with Megan Fox.)
