Christina Applegate Recently Discharged From Hospital After Nearly 4-Month Stay: Report
Christina Applegate is back home from the hospital after a nearly four-month stay amid her battle with multiple sclerosis.
TMZ reported that the actress was recently discharged and is “doing well.” Us reached out to Applegate’s rep for comment.
News broke in April that Applegate was admitted to the hospital in late March. It is unknown whether her reported hospitalization was related to her battle with MS.
“I have no comment whether she is in the hospital or what her medical treatments are,” a spokesperson for Applegate told Us at the time. “She’s had a long history of complicated medical conditions that she has been refreshingly open about, as evidenced in her memoir and on her podcast.”
Applegate, for her part, thanked fans in April for the “outpouring of love and well-wishes” amid reports of her hospitalization.
“Health issues are a constant for me, but I’m a strong chick and I’m getting stronger and better every day,” Applegate wrote via Instagram at the time, sharing a photo from a backyard patio with a copy of her book and a coffee mug with the words “Kissy Kissy.”
“I’m taking a moment to focus on my health,” Applegate continued, “but I’ll be back with more to say soon enough.”
One month prior, Applegate’s “MeSsy” podcast cohost, Jamie Lynn Sigler, announced that the show would be taking a “short break” while the pair focused on their respective book launches. (Sigler, who has lived with MS since 2002, dropped her book, And So It Is: A Memoir of Acceptance and Hope, in May, while Applegate’s memoir, You With the Sad Eyes, was published in March.)
Applegate went public with her MS diagnosis in 2021 and has been candid about her health battle ever since. In March, Applegate shared on an episode of NPR’s “Wild Card With Rachel Martin” that she thinks about her death “every day.”
“It’s looming. I mean, it looms for all of us,” Applegate said, sharing that she has already purchased burial plots for herself and two others to ensure her family is ready for the future.
“For people who have a disease like this, you never know, you know?” she explained. “I bought my plots already, OK? I bought them. … There’s going to be three of us there. But I did. My friend and I are going to go take a picnic there. It’s really pretty where it is.”
