‘Heartbroken’ Kaia Gerber taking brother Presley’s death ‘very hard’

Kaia Gerber is struggling to cope with the devastating loss of her brother and “best friend,” Presley Gerber, after he died in rehab Sunday.

“Kaia and Presley were insanely close,” a source exclusively told Page Six Tuesday, adding, “I don’t know how she’s going to go on without him.”

The 25-year-old model has been taking the loss “very, very hard” as she had an exceptionally tight bond with her older brother, the insider explained.

“They were way more than brother and sister,” the insider said. “She is heartbroken. They were like best friends.”

Kaia and Presley are the only children of supermodel Cindy Crawford and businessman Rande Gerber. They grew up together in Malibu, Calif.

The siblings were so tight-knit that Presley even tattooed his younger sister’s name on his arm in 2018.

The siblings also bonded over both following their famous mom into the modeling industry. As they got older, Kaia and Presley frequently attended events together.

Just months before the news of Presley’s death sent shockwaves through their family, Cindy gushed about how her two children were so close with each other.

“Nothing makes, I think, a parent prouder than when your kids like each other and love each other,” Cindy told People in May.

She reflected on her and her husband’s Vuori campaign with Kaia and Presley, calling the experience “amazing.”

“I mean, obviously, we’ve done family pictures before, but being on a real shoot. I think my husband and I just had … first of all, we got to spend a day with our kids, which we love. But it was extra special,” she said at the time.

A source told Page Six on Monday that Cindy, 60, is “devastated” and “inconsolable” over the passing of her only son.

“They were so close,” the source told us. “What you saw online and in the press wasn’t just for that purpose. They were a tight-knit family and [sister] Kaia and Presley were more than just siblings. Cindy has to be beyond gutted.”

The source continued, “This is every parent’s worst nightmare, and the family is still trying to process everything that happened.”

Presley died of an apparent overdose while staying at a Santa Monica, Calif., rehab facility on Sept. 20. He was 27.

Insiders told Page Six that Presley had checked into Resolutions Living’s $7.7 million luxurious rehabilitation home the same weekend he was pronounced dead.

Another source told Page Six Presley “seemed off” in the weeks leading up to his death, and that he “didn’t seem like himself.“

After the news of his death broke, a rep for his family told Page Six in a statement that they are asking for “privacy during this very difficult and painful time.”

Presley was open about his struggles with addiction to opioids, as well as his battle with depression.

In 2018, Presley’s demons landed him in trouble with the law when he was arrested for a DUI, for which he pleaded no contest and was put on probation for three years.

Through it all, his family stood by his side, with his mom being one of his fiercest supporters.

“Cindy was extremely involved in everything when it came to Kaia and Presley growing up,” a source previously told us. “She never missed a school function and was on top of everything when it came to her kids.”

“I’m sure that Cindy would make sure her kid was going to the best rehab though,” the source continued. “That’s the kind of mom she was. She was so involved in everything for them.”

Kaia’s rep did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
