How Britney Spears’ sons helped her come out of ‘spiral’ and enter rehab

Britney Spears’ sons have helped the pop star get back on her feet and seek the treatment she needs.

A source close to the singer exclusively told Page Six that Sean Preston, 20, and Jayden James, 19, have been a rock for their mom after she was arrested on DUI charges last month.

“She’s been spiraling the last couple of years. And things weren’t going great, and now with the boys reentering her life, fully, this was a great opportunity,” the insider said.

We’re told that Spears gets along with her sons “really well” and that it’s been “wonderful” for her to reconnect with them this past year.

“It’s just been really great for them to spend all of this time with their mom. Britney loves them both equally. They are her whole world,” the source said, noting that Spears getting to spend quality time with her boys has been “an absolute gift” and “the biggest joy” for her at this time.

While we’re told Spears has “always been in touch” with her kids, having them live in Los Angeles has allowed them to grow even closer.

“They’re here because they’re her sons and want to be, and they just want the best for her. Going to rehab was 100 percent Britney’s decision,” the source explained.

“Especially now, she is fully in contact with her sons and they have such a great relationship,” the insider continued. “It’s really important to her that she is the best mom and daughter and human that she can be.”

We’re told the “Toxic” singer is also finding time to “focus on herself” now that she is single and not working on any immediate work projects.

“Her whole family is supporting her. This is her rebirth. This is her reset,” the insider said. “This is something that she has wanted for a really, really long time.”

While our source isn’t quite sure what Spears will do once she completes her rehab stint, they noted that the “world is her oyster.”

“She’s not making plans. It’s super important that Britney doesn’t come out of rehab and suddenly have all of these work things that she needs to do,” the insider said. “The most important thing is that she is able to have the space and the time that she needs to feel fully herself again.”

While Spears’ children have been extremely supportive in the process, it’s not immediately clear whether they plan to visit their mom in rehab.

“She’s only just gone in and so now it’s a process of her spending some time with her counselors and just working out what she’s going to need to feel 100 percent better,” the source explained. “DUI aside, she was always planning on going to rehab now.”

Page Six previously reported that Spears, 44, was arrested for driving under the influence on March 5.

Over the weekend, the “Crossroads” actress’ rep confirmed to Page Six that Spears had voluntarily entered rehab for substance abuse. A source told us that it was “her own choice” to check into the treatment facility.

The singer, who is due in court on May 4, sought treatment after her sons allegedly held an intervention for their famous mom.

She and her kids were seen enjoying a boat day together shortly before she checked herself in.

Spears shares her kids with ex-husband Kevin Federline. The former backup dancer’s lawyer confirmed that Federline is “happy” Spears is getting the help that she needs.
