Jay Cutler makes rare comment about co-parenting with Kristin Cavallari after she called him a ‘pathological liar’
Jay Cutler admitted that his kids with ex-wife Kristin Cavallari are the ones keeping their co-parenting relationship afloat.
The former football player reflected on his dynamic with the “Hills” alum in a new interview with Us Weekly, published Tuesday.
“The kids kind of do it. We’ve got our schedule and it works for us,” he told the outlet, crediting their children for helping the exes co-exist.
Cutler, 42, and Cavallari, 38, share three kids: Camden, 12, Jaxon, 11, and Saylor, 9.
Cavallari and the ex-athlete were married for 10 years before announcing that they were splitting up in April 2020.
“With great sadness after 10 years together we have come to a loving conclusion to get a divorce,” they announced in a joint statement at the time. “We have nothing but love and respect for one another and are deeply grateful for the years shared, memories made, and the children we are so proud of.”
The statement concluded, “This is just the situation of two people growing apart.”
Cutler and Cavallari finalized their divorce two months later.
The “Laguna Beach” star recently opened up about co-parenting with the retired NFL quarterback, admitting that it hasn’t been easy.
“[It’s] really hard. It has not been easy, to say the least,” she shared on the “Dumb Blonde” podcast last December, noting that it had been a “bumpy road.”
She explained that there was “zero f–king consistency” with the way they managed their situation.
“We sat together at a basketball game earlier in the year, and I was like, ‘Holy f–k, this is the best thing that’s ever happened. Jesus Christ, we made it. We can sit next to each other,’” Cavallari recalled. “And we haven’t sat together since, so I don’t f–king know. What the f–k?”
Cavallari also said that she doesn’t expect to spend the holidays as a family, a thought that really “bums [her] out.”
“Coming from divorced parents, the last thing I ever wanted was a divorce. I won’t lie to you. That still will creep up once in a while,” she admitted. “It just sucks that we’re not together as a family.”
Elsewhere in the episode, the Uncommon James founder called Cutler a “pathological liar.”
In March, Cavallari said that she finds co-parenting with Cutler to be “the ultimate test in life.”
Cutler has since moved on from the reality TV star with Samantha Robertson, with the pair getting engaged last November.
Cavallari, for her part, is single and dating. She has recently been romantically linked to comedian Jeff Dye, country singer Morgan Wallen and TikTok influencer Mark Estes.
